Surprisingly elegant nose: cocoa powder, cassis, mint, oregano, dried fig, rhubarb. Still very fresh. Blind, I would call this a middle aged right-bank bordeaux. On the palate, the tannins are fully resolved, medium + acid. Really stunning: more fig, cocoa powder, espresso, dried cassis. Just the right amount of leather/cigar box. This is in a great place right now, but it's certainly not on the downhill yet! A strong argument that the Finger Lake can do cool climate bordeaux blends.

Wow. Was this nice. I thought it might be too young yet, but not the case. Full bodied, all the right notes with CS and merlot seeming to be the main characters. Wish I had more!

Had for a special occasion with steak; definitely a steak wine but wow is this young! Still lots of tannin but very well made; nice balance of fruit, tannin, and more. Opened up some after a while; if you open it now, decant for a while. I'm keeping my other bottle for several more years: it will be a long time before this peaks!

This is our sixth bottle of this and haven't been disappointed yet. Need to adjust my drink dates for the last two bottles since I suspect this will go awhile yet. Another amazing FLX red.

A lot more tannins than it's little brother. More coffee notes and earthier flavors an root spice notes. the tannins melt a bit and bring a more concentrated flavor

Continues to amaze. I really need to stop drinking all of it because it probably has years of life left to it. Still plenty of fresh fruit but also developing lots of interesting age notes. All the 2007 reds from Damiani are worth cellaring some more.

Just more of what I've said before. Great wine. Still young. One of the best FLX reds we've had. I won't open another bottle for a couple of years.

Finger Lakes Vacation 2018; 9/2/2018-9/7/2018 (Finger Lakes, New York, USA) : Tasted at the winery. Black cherry, savory elements, toasted coconut, a few herbal accents. Even some orange and almond highlights. Medium(+) body, medium(+) tannins, and medium acid. Firmer structure and lots of complexity. Almost ready to drink, but will hold until at least 2024. "Very good-to-excellent," 90+/100.

Short decant. Still youthful looking. Aromas of mulberry, blueberry, cinnamon, crushed rock, and tobacco. Lingering berry flavors to match. Some graphite and nut shells on the finish. Mature structure, mostly driven by acid at this stage. Could go for another year or two but we would suggest that it is drinking at peak now. "Excellent," 91/100.

Fair warning. We are Damiani fans to begin with and we tasted this wine at a wine and tapas dinner after we had spent the afternoon barrel tasting the new 2015 wines that were barely done fermenting. Just saying, I was spitting for most of the afternoon but I was probably a little impaired so this is just a general impression rather than specifics on fruit, mineral and such. But man..... This wine is 8 years old and my first …

Excellent example of a Finger Lakes Bordeaux blend. Surprisingly good fruit, tannins, and lively acidity. Probably could have cellared for a couple more years, but drinking well now. 87+ points. PJP 2012.

Was solid, meaty and very ripe for an FL red, but so were a lot of 07 reds here. Over priced for what I got but it was great to share with friends, tannins were easy for a meritage too.
