Pepper and cherry tones... Letting decant for a bit before we have more. Hopefully didnt open this one past prime. T + 45 minutes, it has mellowed a bit. A great wine to start the evening, wish we had another one!

Full black fruit, plenty of baking spice and some herbs. Drinking well and likely at peak. Pretty lush but interesting enough.

Still quite alive from magnum. Some green pepper notes are present which I don't entirely care for.

Very deep maroon - big, oaky, plummy black fruit nose - smooth, plush palate - chocolate, creme de cassis, - very tasty, but near the end of the bottle, it was getting a bit tiring, with too much oak and alcohol - depends if you like the style or not. Drink up.

I'm a big fan of Charles Smith's wines and this one didn't disappoint. Dark purple with sooty, medium viscosity in the glass. Brambly blackberries, pepper and smoke on the muted nose. Medium-bodied, round dark fruit, smoke and subtle licorice/peppermint on the palette. Smooth, medium finish.

Consumed on Easter, 2010. I remember to this day purchasing this wine directly from Mr. Smith at his Walla Walla winery--Credence blasting while tasting. Still a good wine. Lot's of cherry, blackberry, and a little plum. 20% syrah was not overpowered by the 80% Cab. A good wine. I wouldn't wait much longer to drink.

Paired with beef wellington. Nicely balanced wine. Was tasty, but nothing really stood out. Doesn't quite bring enough to the party to justify the price point. Would not purchase again.

Defintely syrah, but a bit too new world in style for my tastes. Robust and powerful, this wine was practically numbed the tongue with flavor. Likely a crowd pleaser with those who enjoy new world, but I wouldn't be opening this for your French and Italian fans.

Some big cherries on the nose from En Cerise vineyard as well as olive, smoke, plums, and caramel. The cherries carried over to the palate as well as the olives. Tasted like a mellow Syrah except for the green pepper on the mid. Fairly short finish and med low acidity. Gained points for how well it well with lamb Moroccan stew. The cinnamon and curry brought out the earthiness on the wine along with the sweet cherries. Good wine but …

Give it a few hours in the decanter to mellow out the green peppers and you will be rewarded with a pretty good wine.

Huge oak, almost offensive out of the bottle. With time it mellowed, good balance. Solid fruit and an interesting combo of varietals. The 20% syrah dominates the flavor profile of the 80% cab. Overall a very good bottle...

We found the Ovide surprsingly oaky on the nose with a bit of an overwhelming aroma of vanilla. In the mouth, the wine was relatively fruit forward. While nicely balanced, it didn't have that higher level of acidity and crispness I'm used in Washington reds. However, overall it's drinking quite well at the moment. Not sure I would leave this that much longer.

Blackberry and plum dominate the palate of this wine, accompanied by baking spice, green herb/bell pepper and mint. Subtle cinnamon-like tannins round out the mouth feel. Drinking perfectly right now and likely for the next year but perhaps not much longer.

Rich and dark in the glass. Plum, vanilla, creme brulee and baking spice round out the palate from a promising bell plus black peppery (& minty!) yet slightly alcoholic nose. Pleasurable finish with notes of licorice and a slight loamy quality. Not sure what will happen to this years hence but I'm enjoying finding out.

Good, not great. Purple core with red rim. Nose of blackberries. Medium bodied with dark fruit and light mineral flavors.

Really took ages to open up. Sometimes at a dinner party you don't have all night. Nice fruit eventually, but too hot for most of the meal.

Started out very closed. Took about four hours to start to come around. Never got all that complex. Was pleasant, but nothing remarkable. Will wait another couple of years before I open my next one. Would not purchase again, not good enough QPR.

Big funky sulfurous nose that never really blew off over the two hours it was open. Fresh and lively tasting wine, good balance of fruit acid, and perfectly pleasant to drink, but nothing overly complex here. Tasted alongside the 2003 Owen Roe Syrah "Ex Umbris," which blew its doors off. Enjoyed with a nice pizza, although it is a little more than just a pizza wine.

This really showed wwll. Great fruit extraction, cassis, blueberry, blackberry with smoke and tar hints. Slightly hot with a nice acidic kick this wine has a few years ahead of it and I look forward to following it's evolution. 50+4+12+21+4=91
