Some electric green on the nose. Someky and round on the palate. Super delicious.

Beautiful Chassagne. Nose reticent at first but quickly opened up with a complex and very well integrated bouquet full of seashell, slate, honeysuckle, lemon, anise seed, with a touch of stalkiness and earth. Palate had buttery feel, lanolin, lemon sorbet, honey, pinch of cayenne. If I now tell you that despite all those notes this was understated you get a sense of how finely poised this is. Wow. Fantastic expression of Chassagne. Drink now; no point in waiting. Score: 95-96. …

The 2009 Maison Leroy Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Les Baudines did not show the reductive and buttery style as the recent vintages (from 2011 onwards), nonetheless a lovely Chassagne with good richness. Tasted blind - Zingy fresh citrus fruits with lees texture and riper tropical fruits of yellow stone fruits (Chassagne characteristics?). A big-boned wine from a warmer vintage, 2010? The palate was a bit over bright and astringent on first attack, but opened up beautifully with just a bit of time in the glass, until it fanned across the palate in a lovely creamy mouthful of round white fruit, sweet tropical flavours, and then a nice seam of earthy, chalky, …

A very fine example of what the finest of Chassagne Montrachet has to offer. The Maison Leroy is silky, creamy, buttery, with fine mineral streak underlaying it followed by a good mid length finish, very impressive.

Tasting at Maison Leroy (Auxey-Duresses) : Tasted at Maison Leroy. For me, this was the star of this morning's white flight. Floral with intense orchard fruit. Elegant and well textured, this is very pleasurable today with enough structure to continue to evolve, unfold and improve going forward.
