Was thinking of drinking less and do more exercice! Well with this fine bottle of wine, you can drink and do exercice! The bottle is so damm heavy! Make you do lifting exercise up to the end!

First time for me trying this wine and I was very impressed. Popped and poured. Tasted very mature with 16 years of bottle age but still very much alive. Very dark color on pouring. On the nose and palate this was definitely dark fruit but lots of tar, espresso and earthiness really taking the forefront. The finish was very long and this was just a great wine to sit with and sip. Seemed very complex and layered.

Elegant wine with some green vegetable notes, reminded me of bordeaux and Cab F. Not powerful but a very good match with game. My first 100 % merlot and it was a pleasant surprise.

Dark colored, full bodied, big plummy but balanced wine with quite a tannic grip which warrants considerable ageing.

Opaq, inky black. Evolved nose with dark chocolate, moccha, dark plums and undergrouth. Full-bodied, big and dense with velvety tannins, balancing acidity and a long aftertaste. Fully mature to drink now.

Massive Merlot, this is a real cult wine where I bought it at Palazzo Sasso in Ravello, (Amalfi Coast) back in the days when I was a player. The wine is monumental after a couple hours of decanting, nose, entry, mid palate, finish. If all Merlot was like this Sideways would not of had an effect on the varietal.

Deep dark concentrated purple color. The nose really reminds me of a South African wine. Lots of rich ripe black fruits with a green tinge underneath of green beans or peppers. Long finish and went with the lamb shank perfectly. Good but not great.

Interesting, an Italian merlot. Not quite like anything I've had before, but quite good. Dark chocolate and ripe red fruits on the palate, very smoky nose. Unusual, but quite good.

A deep red (almost black) and thick Merlot. Very concentrated both on the nose and palate. Absolutelly needs hours of decanting before drinking. A precious wine to observe his evolution over the time.

Merlot and Terroir (AIS, Rome) : Merlot 100% Purple/black core, very dense. Nose: Moderate intensity and all earth to start with; evolved some sweet fruitiness with time in the glass. Palate: Much bigger on the palate, with fruit along with the clean earthiness and minerality, later showing chocolate and coffee, and a sweet vanilla aftertaste; low acidity; soft, smooth tannins (16 months in barrique); high alcohol sensation (label states 13.5%). Overall: Rich, full-bodied, concentrated, moderately long and complex, nice evolution …
