Oh baby, first time with this vinage. 82% Cab/18% Merlot. Big, fruit forward profile right now of red/black cherry, blueberry, and dark plums. Wonderful mid-palate notes of violets, black licorice, dark chocolate, spice, and cedar. Nice acidity, firm tannins, and good long finish. Very approachable right now but certainly no rush. Another stunning HM Cab.

14.8% Slow oz'd for 3 hours before xmas dinner. upon opening, did a quick taste. Translucent purple-ruby, no sign of age. Big big nose on Pnp, leather, cassis, bit of oak. Very balanced on palate, round tannins. Very evolved for 8yo cab. Tannic finish. After 3 hrs, was perfectly open for dinner, tasting notes similar. The whole is greater than the sum of the individual pieces however. Beautiful Howell mtn terrior. Impeccably balanced, lighter than its 14.8 would suggest. Finish …

90-minute double decant. Very deep dark magenta core, with more faded ruby color outside. Mushroom, milk chocolate, blackberry, cassis, waffle cone, and subtle candy corn. Smooth , dry palate. Full tannins on the longish finish. This was the surprising WOTN at our monthly supper club. It’s definitely drinking at its peak for my palate. Excellent QPR here.

Slow ox’d overnight. Deep dark magenta color (with little to no signs of age). Blackberry Fruit Roll-up, brown sugar, and subtle chocolate. Very dry, plush palate. Firm, medium intensity tannins on the longish finish. This was nice, but would have been better with a one hour traditional decant. The fruit comes off as a bit stewed. Nice QPR nonetheless.

Decanted 2 hours before the first glass and drank over 5 hours. Dark black/purple. Welcoming nose of black currant, warm blackberry crumble, and dark earth. Rich, warmed fruit that comes in with deep bass notes and some higher toned red fruit and vanilla. Big, but smooth wine, with dark chocolate tannins. Last glass was more tannic, but owed mostly to the sediment in the glass. Paired terrifically with steak.

Oh so beautiful aroma of spices, berries, and plums went so well with Texas BBQ Brisket. Removed from the chiller and let it sit for about hour before pouring. Really a great pairing with BBQ Cheers
