Château Barréjat Madiran Cuvée des Vieux Ceps

A bottle of this opened in 2012 was excellent. My first sniff and sip of this new bottle before food made me think that the fruit had faded with animal flavours (brett?) of sweaty saddle washed in antiseptic becoming prominent. However after a mouthful of lamb and beans, the balance was much improved with mature fruit, minerals and secondary flavours complementing the food well and the animal notes becoming acceptably discreet.
