The wine looks tawny colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like strawberry and mushroom. It tastes like strawberry, raisin and mushroom. The body is medium. The wine finishes medium. The wine has medium acidity,mild tannins.

Really nice cherry and dried cherry notes with some red plum mingle with cedar and toasty caramel. Good acidity and more dried red fruits show up with sweet tannins on the palate with nice caramel and vanilla finish.

Very good. Dark purple color; thick texture; almost no legs. Smells like cedar and earth. Cherry flavor. Was really smooth right out of the bottle; developed more alcohol (heat) after just a few minutes. One of the better Riojas I have had lately though.

Maybe some bad bottles floating around? The one I had was solid. Good structure, oak is balanced. Cherry and blackberry with nice oak character. Still has a tannic character. Could handle a few more years in the cellar. Enjoyable drinking.

This is a wine which less experienced drinkers will surely value higher. Abundant oak (fair quality), but the grape beneath is not quite substantial and powerful enough to bear it. This sounds worse than the wine really is; it's perfectly drinkable and OK, although rioja reserva tends to be higher quality.
