Opened a magnum of the Brut NV and enjoyed it with family and friends on Christmas Eve for a little apero. Still has at least hint of Chardonnay … well proportioned fruit, yeasty nose and acid to be a tasty match with our ricotta crostini and peperonata from the Mozza cookbook. Hoping for leftovers but got cleared out!

Disgorged 2024Q1. Not a pop n’ pour champagne. This requires quite some time (~2hours) in bottle for the nuanced flavours to develop. Very delicate, restraint, drinks like a Blanc de Blanc and tastes much dryer than its 8g/L dosage. Notes of brioche, lemon, green apples and wet stones. Medium+ acidity, medium intensity and medium finish.

With lox and bagels for brunch. The best part is when it warms to about 60 to 65 degrees. This is officially back as the house Champagne.

Verve Champagne Fest (Chicago, IL) : A step up in complexity versus the regular Brut NV, with generally more oomph here. Modest, if still discernible, red fruits on the palate.

Quite like this bottle especially after30-60mins of breathing, even a bit of Dom Perignon coming through the palate. really good value for the price, i paid around USD60.

La Paulée - San Francisco Grand Tasting (One Sansome-San Francisco CA) : Walk around tasting. Fat and rich combo of orchard fruit with faint berry hints. Ripe with good acid and good enough weight. A Champagne that would be much better with the right food than on its own.

Base vintage 2019. Light strawberry colour. Very little red fruit that needs swirling and sipping to come to the forefront. A bit more on the fruity/less austere side than the other Delamottes - not hedonistic at all but compared to the rest of the lineup this verged on richness. I liked it but have had many other better roses. 90/100

Salmon color, sweet on palate, not much complexity. With delamotte, the regular nv and the bdb at least are identifiable, this rose version could be from any producer. Not worth the price they are asking.

Blind Champagne Tasting (Astrid's House) : Served blind. No disgorgement info, and really not much on the back label. Salmon colored, this wine seemed rough to me. The balance seemed off, too. A red fruit candy density that i didn't care for, along with a bitter quality. This just tasted candied to me and of the 12 wines we did blind during the tasting, this was one of the few I didn't care for.

Served blind. Earthy, yeasty nose showing some sulfur like oak. Earthy strawberry on the palate. Balance with a dry feel. Oak and dosage are noticeable. I noted that I thought this might need some age for integration. Another more classic house style here. I'd be very curious to see what this does with 5-10 years in bottle. We did not look for the disgorgement though.

Round attack, bigger bubbles, not quite as structured as the Vilmart, although most liked this better I think b/c it's more approachable, a bit more fruity IMHO. Lawry's DD TOC

As had been said, a wine to please the crowd. Notes of strawberry, some roses. Somewhat sweet on the palate, fine if not somewhat simple. May I say pleasant? No yeast, which I was hoping for. Nice, but not in the same league as the Billicart/Laurent/Ruinart for this price point.

Paired with an excessive amount of Chinese takeout on Christmas Eve. Based on the code on the cork, this was disgorged q4 2017, so had a nice 5 years of bottle age. Color was a nice light pink with a bit of burnt orange hue. Faint strawberries and flowers on the nose. Nice bead with some crisp bubbles. On the palate there was some nice salinity, unripe strawberry, tart cherry. A touch of sweetness on the aftertaste, but overall a …

This is the first time i've ever had their Brut Rose...very pretty wine! I believe 80% Pinot from Bouzy, Ambonnay and Tours-sur-Marne...20% Chard from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger...2012 base?...8g/l dos...very refreshing elegant bubbles, with a good prickle of blood orange acidity...dancing in a field of wild strawberries and raspberry bushes...crisp and precise on the palate...wonderful crushed rock salty dryness...tart cherry skin...not much of a mousse though...but it is well balanced and tamed, so no need for any creme to calm. A lovely …

Pleasant. Classic Pinot champagne — plums and cherries and toast and mineral. More dosage than usual these days — maybe too much, and I typically complain about not enough dosage. Overall drinkable and well structured and not faults and would be a good summer rosé but not terribly interesting.

Representing only 5% of their production, this saignee rose had the nose of wild strawberries, white flowers, and biscotti. Palate was refreshing, with med-plus acidity, and medium body - it held its own with short ribs. This evolved nicely over about 2 hours, and while not mind-blowing, the wine was excellent and brought us back to our tasting appointment at Salon, when we had it last!
