Smooth, well-balanced wine. Full bodied, well integrated tannins. Comes in with dark red fruit, some earth, some old leather. Long, drying finish. Drink or hold.

A bit over the top, but still excellent match with Iberico pork steak

Could be peak. Fully developed with classic old world blend of grape, soil, and care. One more left - later this year. Would be great with Roast Turkey.

Hmm, it has been 9 months since my last bottle (sounds like a confession right?) and I was not as impressed this time. Everything seem muted, the nose couldn't detect much of anything. It was "smooth" on the palate but without much fruit or secondary notes. Flabby is how I would rate it in one word.

Deep plums and ripe fruit on the nose. Very fruity. In blind tasting thought at first (by nose) it was an older red burgundy. Delicious red cherries, dark tobacco, pepper. Great

Comes into the mouth with bright cherry acidity and upfront and drying tannin that has the beginning of a rounded edge. Overall, an enjoyable, mid-weight, well structured, and balanced Mencia that is a good value for its price.

These bottles went quickly I have only 1 left out of a 4-pack (free shipping) from WTSO. A really pleasant wine at this price and the finish is probably the most satisfying part. Would have been a great case buy.

Call me a fan of this wine. What a deal at $15.99 for an eleven year old aged Spanish wine made from 100% Mencia a grape I never tried before. The first bottle I opened the cork cracked, showing the age but I was able to extract the rest without to much trouble. Smooth, velvet like tannins and dried red fruit and a perfect accompaniment to Italian food prepared by my wife. I cracked open a second bottle as well …

Pretty good stuff. Drank over 2 nights. First night was a fruitier nose, palate of sour cherries and raspberry. Second night had more of a jammy feel, I'd call it stewed plums. Not in a bad way. The plum flavor also had the creamy mouthfeel the previous reviewer was noting, but my bottle didn't have overabundant tannins. I'm looking forward to the next bottle. This being 10 years old already I was hoping for more, but this was still good.

Last bottle of four. Sad to see it go! We served this bottle with pasta, red sauce, and garlic bread. The meal seemed to bring out some dried fruit and balsamic characteristics. "Very good"-to-"excellent," 89/100.

First bottle of four from WTSO. Aerated into a decanter and poured the first glass immediately. The nose was great right off the bat and hit all the high points for us...black and blue fruit, flowers, earthiness, meatiness, and oak character all come through. This has complexity for days, and is a dense, heavy-hitting rendition of Mencia. It is a little more straightforward on the palate, with more of the blue/black fruit and oak character. Structure in the first glass …
