Alexandria Nicole Viognier Reserve Destiny Ridge Vineyards

Greenblanket sampled this wine over three days and came away somewhat less impressed than the last time he tried it. It was a very pale yellow in the glass and offered a nice bouquet of apricots, tropical florals and distinctive flinty minerals. The palate and finish featured a strong pineapple presence that was out of balance with the acidity and minerality. This is very good wine but it didn't seem as clean and crisp as Greenblanket's last encounter.

This was by far the best wine Greenblanket found during an afternoon spent wandering the suburban wine country just east of Seattle. It offers well balanced layers of fruit on a clean refreshing frame. Greenblanket has often found Washington Viogniers to be overly floral and heavily fruited but this lovely wine presents its fruit and floral notes in perfect harmony with its crisp acidic structure. Excellent.
