Seems to have lost something since last tasted 2 years ago. The old puncheon characteristic comes forward. Color is relatively light, the flavors seem tired and the fruit hides behind the still ample tannins. Made in the old style of Barolo. (10/27/2019) The clear wine-of-the-night at a recent Downtown Mankato Wine Tasting Society (DIMWITS) event. One of our members simply muttered "Whoa!" when he smelled it. From its medium-red color one does not expect the explosion of flavors that follow. …

Still an excellent wine. Past it’s peak and has lost some complexy, body and even a lightening of color. Recommend decanting and waiting a bit for the wine to open up. Will always love my Barolo Nebbiolo but should have enjoyed it sooner.

Light garnet color, the body is quite light for a Barolo, I would more call it Langhe Nebbiolo but then price wise not the best buy. Tannins are still quite rude here, definitely it needed more time in the bottle.

Amazing value. Very nice Barolo, cherries, good structure. Nice tannins. Has plenty of life left...

Not sure there is better value in barolo. At $30 this is great. cherry, rose petal, burnt orange peel, tar, spice, gravel. lots of tannic grip still and acid was mod+. very enjoyable now with 1+ hour decant but Id wait another 2 years

Very good Barolo, great bargain at $30. Had it for Father's Day with steak. Was not as dark, rich in color or bold as an Italian Barolo as I prefer, but still very good and drank well.

Wow. Purchased this on a whim from WTSO for $30 expecting a pleasant wine too young to enjoy. Quite the contrary. Impressed by the subtlety of the wine on the palette and the nose. Very dry and traditional with that rose petal/rust thing that aged nebbiolos have (not a modern fruit bomb). Pop and poured at a backyard pizza party for a S's friend L's 10th birthday party (the kids drank lemonade); the wine detonated and was greeted by all …

Well made Barolo, not too much on the finish, could use more tannins. Paired with rigatoni with veal and peppers.

Been away for a while from the note-taking scene. Before launching into this barolo beauty, here's a short list of winners since the last entry-all too far in the past for a sentient note, but all registering in a range of 89-92. Flaccianello 2000, beautiful sangiovese in an oak package; Sapphire Hill Pinot Noir 2001-Russian River fruit with surprising restraint and complexity; 1985 Cos D'Estournel-even the sommelier missed the age by 10 years (brought by my friend to a BYO) …

Pretty good but I've had better. Actually, I had a 2000 Clerico Barolo later in the evening. No contest.
