I love this wine. It is the perfect sweet spot where every drop tastes luxurious before it gets really, really expensive. The tertiary notes are very integrated and present. There are beautiful walnuts and cordial. The syrupy texture lingers on the tongue as the flavors evolve on the palate. There is enough acidity to maintain the structure even with the sweet viscosity that a good port has. Bottles younger than the 20 always remind me of the 20 which just …

Aromas of caramel, black molasses, tar, some slight menthol, and nuttiness. This bottle was ready to drink. I thoroughly enjoyed devouring this sweet nectar.

Red sugar, lots of cinnamon and other spices and herbs, acidity of fresh fruits balanced out the honey sort of sweetness, caramel and coffee bitterness, overall rich

Very impressive and complex wine. Medium tawny colour with layered, pronounced intensity nose. Aromas of caramel, toffee, coffee, raisin, dried apricot, sherbet, almond, chocolate, orange peel and brown sugar. The palate is fully sweet with high acidity and alcohol. The tannins are low and very smooth, hardly perceptible. It has a full body and a very long layered finish. Like the nose, the intensity is pronounced. Outstanding wine. It has great balance of sugar and acidity making the wine extremely …

By the glass at Höhwald, Klosters to finish one Epic of a meal. True to form, classic, nutty and soft oxidative, well polished and elegant and ever the crowd pleaser. 92

Bought this 375ml in 2025. A bit of thinness on the entry level of flavours. Then it kicks in with a bit more body. Aromas show a cherry like liqueur, orange peel. Also some nuttiness. Some nutmeg, figs as well. The mouth feel shows a bit of honeyed viscosity. Not overpowering. Bit of alcohol on the back sides of mouth. Long finish. Silky, not overly sweet, enjoyable sipping.

Ok, for a Tawny Port, still a bit young.

First note immediately on opening: Banana walnut bread on the nose, and then on the palate a burst of fruity molasses rum with even a touch of funky ester. Pretty sweet but in a clean and focused way, not soft or voluptuous. 89

Aromatic nose of cherry, Kirsch, orange peel, mace, fig and walnut. Kirsch, cherry, orange peel, date, nutmeg and walnut on the palate. Elegant with a very long finish. Tasted at home a few days after visiting Taylor Fladgate in Vila Nova de Gaia and experiencing the 10, 20 and 30 year old tawny port flight. The 20 year old is a wonderful tawny port. Served with Italian plum tart.

Viscous clear garnet ruby. Fairly sweet mix between a ruby and a light tawny. Nice flavor at this level

Big Feastival weekend; 8/24/2025-8/25/2025 : From a 5L Jereboam. Lighter on its feet than I feared, rich and full yet energetic and delicate

Oh my God...not sure what happened to this bottle. On the nose and en bouche is not usually what this 20 yr old port is like. I opened a 10 year old tawny Fladgate about a month ago, and I swear this 20-year-old tasted quite the same. Couldn`t really smell the caramel, toffee, molasses. High alcohol taste. Thin en bouche. Anyone out there get this? Please do leave a comment.

Ok 10 year old tawny. I should have shelled out more money for the 20 year old from this house. The 10 year old lacks the sweet caramel, the bouquet, and the "thickness" of his older brother. I have some Guinness in the fridge. Don't tell the Irish, but I will mix this port with some pints of Guinness. If you've never tried it, you should. It gives the Guinness a different feel.

What beautiful aromas! The baking spices made it feel like someone was preparing a rum cake with black fruit, toasted walnuts, caramel, and brown sugar. Everything detected in the nose is present on the palate, but subtle, nothing overwhelming, leading to a nice nutty finish.

Great pairing with a plate of Point Reyes Blue. Notes of raisins, figs, and dark chocolate coalesce, buoyed by hints of orange peel acidity throughout.

No detailed tasting notes, but it paired beautifully with chocolate Kahlua cake. That's an absolute perfect match. Glad I purchased this, rather then the similarly-priced Ware's Otima 20 year old Tawny.

Similar to previous, albeit somewhat stronger in a way that made it slightly less enjoyable until it was aired-out slightly. (From a newly opened, albeit few year-old, bottle; very high fill level.)

As always 20 year old Taylor Fladgate tawny is a sure value. It was better the second night with a nice Stilton.

This 10 year tawny is more fruit forward than all others. It starts with a reddish color, without the typical brown hues. On the palate, more fruit, less nutty and spicy than other 10s. Dried cherries, fruit cake and a hint of licorice. Not complex, but an easy, enjoyable tawny. Finishes with hints of butterscotch and a tint of orange.

WSET II Class; 2/22/2025-2/23/2025 : During day 3 of my WSET Level II course, we concluded with Port wines, comparing aged tawny against Late Bottled Vintage styles. This 20 Year Tawny demonstrated extended oxidative aging characteristics. This aged tawny showed pale amber color. The nose presented pronounced intensity with caramel, dried fruits and nutty aromas. The palate was sweet with very high alcohol (20%) in a full body. It displayed pronounced dried fruit and caramel flavors balanced by the high …

For a winter evening after solinger, there is no better choice than Port. And this Taylor really delivers (as usual), rich but balanced, slightly oxidative, with a long finish. 92-93.

Moderate garnet in the glass. A breath of complexity across the board, from primary fruit (cranberry, cherry, plum), some leather and tobacco as well as baking spices. Still fresh and bright, lovely drinking.

Moderate garnet in the glass. Showing more nutty, caramel notes rather than dried fruit. Slightly more concentrated and a little sweeter than 10 Year Old. Long finish, just hints of salinity.

Moderate amber in the glass, definitely paler than the 30 and 40. Superb complexity, like a sherry and port coming together. Don't want to write an extensive tasting note, I just want to drink this glory.

Brick red in color - more so than any of the other 10 years tasted in Gaia during the week. On the palate, more fruit than any other 10 year tawnies. Mellow, fruity finish with a bit of spice.

Had a couple of glasses the first night opened. It was good but it was strong and closed. The second night, had another glass...so good. This port really needs 2 days to open up. The caramel and fruit both present on the nose and in the mouth.

This is next level amazingly good for my wife and I. The nose is chocolate and caramel and anise. It is silky smooth with a round and full feel on the palate. No flavor overwhelming any other. Extremely enjoyable.
