Fresh, zippy, not shortage of primary sweet cabernet fruit. Unreal that it's so fresh for a 17yr. Blows your socks off really in this respect.

Defo a grower. Poured like a 16yr with browning edges and initially the fruit seemed intact, if a touch tired. But....really blossumed in the glass as the fruit asserted itself. Fruit itself is largely 101 berries but some nice sweetness around the edges is a nice touch. Low on oak and tannin. Might have another 1 - 2 years.

Perhaps on the decline now or this particular bottle was a little flawed (or my taste buds are declining!) as it had a distinct bitterness at the backend of the gulp.

Fully resolved, sweet fruit remaining with a fine tannin line. Acid holding it really well. Great with steak, which countered the berry sweetness. Cassis, a toach of tobacco. Long finish. Altogether a very nicely aged cab sav.

Really enjoyed this one. A light colour and beautiful nose. Still got some tannin left but most has smoothed off.

Great aroma, still a lot of fruit. Some remaining tannin so this could still go a little longer. Probably not quite as tasty as the last one but still a great wine

Maybe my expectations are higher, but this one was not quite as good. Slightly less smooth than previous

Wow! Got this on special a few years back and bought a case. 7 more to go and this one was beautiful. I can't believe this was only $10 Great on the nose, smooth, fruity. A really great wine

Cassis, blackberry, mint hits the nose. Palate has those too but in equal measure has savoury dried herbs, cigar box, mushrooms, sweet tannins. Excellent balance and length. Mellowed nicely and probably now at its best for my tastes, but should be fine drinking for a few more years. 91 or better.

Smells nice, smooth, fruity but still a little bitter. Might have some life yet I reckon

Nice nose of ripe berry fruit and spice. Not much cassis evident, but also is not overripe or jammy. Well balanced with a good acidity and some tannins still present, with nice secondary clove and baking spice flavours developing.

Really impressed; very expressive nose with tonnes of fruit which continues on the palate, lots of blackberry on the palate, almost Ribena-like. In a very good drinking place right now. Excellent.

Tahbilk visit with Alistair Purbrick and Neil Larson (Tahbilk Winery, Nagambie Lakes, Victoria.) : More fruit evident here, still has a pyrazine character but it's more herbal than vegetal. Raspberry and blackberry aromas, with quite a dense, savoury palate. Showing more integration with the tannin structure as well. Good. GDD: 1957 ALC: 14.5%

This was very enjoyable for the price ($16.42 on Wine Library's @WineDeals, with 0 shipping). I love their aged Sémillon but had never tried any of their reds. This fruit profile strays toward the more baked side, but was not at all jammy or overdone. I thought it was quite classy and would be happy to have it again for this price. A very well-made Cab.

Nose of dark, stewed fruit (plum, cherry), charcoal, and vanilla, with a hint of eucalyptus. Thin, juicy palate, with flavours of prune, blackcurrant, and plenty of oak.

Decanted for 1hr. nice on the nose, warm grasses and subtle fruits. Pleasant and balanced on the palate. Developed by the 2nd glass and had a decent medium finish. Not overpowering. Not a show stopper, but does the job on a quiet Friday night.

Blackcurrant, blackberry, mocha, mushroom. Gritty tannin. Juicy and delicious, but a tiny smidgen hot on the finish. Drinking well now with no decant, will be good for a few more years.

Decent juice for the price. More of a cherry flavor - not unusual taste for an Aussie Cab. Like a Wolf Blass or a Greg Norman. Nothing special, but decent. JDM 86

A little hot at first, needs time in the decanter. Really luscious and juicy wine with nice amount of depth and extraordinarily well balanced.

Leafy aromas with iron, cinnamon and a touch of mint. Restrained on the palate, it is fully resolved and still holding good balance. Drink now.

With J, Rob and G, Ron and J - 2nd Cormack meal - superb expression of cool climate Aussie Cabernet Sauvignon. Mint, herbs and heaps of tannin. Taut structure. Young, long and satisfying, Wine of the night with Bonny Doon Le Sophiste 1993! (Note 2009 - B. opened the 93 Sophiste for a joke earlier this year. Still drinkable but clearly in the wine old age home!

Old note from 1993. 18/20 Almost opaque with just a little amber starting to emerge at rim. Very ripe red fruit, plum and cherry, pepper and licorice. Full bodied wine with ripe fruit, soft tannins, good structure and complexity. fairly long finish.
