Loan Sémillon Special Reserve

Another interesting and enjoyable Semillon, says the wine geek. Definitely not the average white drinker's every night glass. Citrus, tropical fruit, almost sweet aromatic profile that includes a little dried fruit and spice. A little more texture, presence, and mouthfeel than the average unoaked white. Long finish, slightly warm. Try with herbed lemon chicken and an open mind if you're not familiar with the varietal.

Screw cap. Highly aromatic nose showing complex lime peel, melon, honey, fig, and dried herbs. Palate is equally complex with lemon/lime peel, herbs, floral flavours on a light-to-medium bodied frame. Fresh, lively acids balance the just off-dry, slightly viscous palate. An intriguing wine with good body and length despite some structural flaws. At first taste it came across rather hot (13.5% ABV). When cold the alcohol was more subdued but made an appearance again as the glass warmed. Good weight on the palate and long finish. The nose was honey and pear.
