Still drinking well. At bit past it's prime but very enjoyable non-the-less.

While still full of cherries the wine has mellowed and was very earthy, especially in the first half hour after opening. Deep rich color, medium weight. paired with mushroom risotto and has enough body and complexity to carry on after the meal is over.

Chicago Pinot Days-2008 (Navy Pier, Chicago IL) : nose: very candied and perfumy with red cherries, raspberries, and lots of red currants underneath. Fairly big and candied nose, but there is a balance to it taste: rich tones of red cherries, wild strawberries, red currants, and raspberries. Medium/Full bodied with good weight overall: Very rich and sweet in that candied pinot style. A lot of body on the palate, but it still move and transitions fairly well, but there is …

Pinot Days Chicago (Navy Pier, Chicago) : Baked cherry and red fruit tones. A bit hot, something reminiscent of a Zin.

Dark with loads of currant and berry fruit. Very nicely textured, though the finish is marred by some alcoholic heat.

nose - rose petal, oak. No other notes taken but scored and it seems I liked it.

Dinner with John and Linda - angel hair with tomato cream sacuse and shrimp. Drank the remaining '01 Cali Pinots - Talisman Thorn and Arcadian - Gary's. Talisman enjoyed much more by everyone.

Sunday night at home - late return from far western NJ for Danny's first soccer match of the season - a 6-0 win! Cod with salad and corn (sausage and turkey burgers for the kids - though they only ate the sausage). Wine was very nice - finished the bottle with surprising ease - for a Sunday night.

Thursday night - got home when it was still light - and decided to open this bottle. Good idea! A beautiful - pale rose color in the glass - wonderful strawberry and red fruit. Started drinking it at cellar temp and it got better as it warmed.

Friday night - home alone. Jill out at a "carbo dinner" for the sprint tri-athalon. Danny and I had leftovers - pizza, baked ziti and chicken. Nice wine at cellar temp - needed a little warming up.

Rich, deep, dark fruit, with an elegant new oak core that is slightly shiny right now but will integrate well. Like a big Burgundy from a warm year. 50+5+12+16+9=92
