Jean-Marie Fourrier Echezeaux Vieille Vigne

A private dinner hosted by Chris Janselijn, Mattijs Koornneef & Midas van der Meiden (Restaurant The Lobby Fizeaustraat, Hotel V, Amsterdam, NL) : Magnum. Fresh and cool and pure, expressive and transparent style, juicy blue fruit, polished, very Fourrier in style.

Holy cow. This was stunning. Beautiful nose with sweet red cherry, a touch of tobacco, a kiss of of oak giving it some sandalwood. On the palate, absolutely perfect mixture of acidity and fruit, showing more pure red fruit and a touch of toast. Fine tannins on the long finish. I realize this is just a baby, but it was just so pleasurable already.

Sweet dark cherry fruit. Bold but refined tannins. Best on day two.

Echezeaux – Grand cru standard? : The bouquet delivers very fine cherries and strawberries. Very pure and sappy on the palate with stylish tannins and refreshing fruit flavors. A gorgeous Echezeaux with the signature of the winemaker.

On the nose a blend of black cherries, dark berries, espresso and dark soil tones. On the palate the juicy sweetness of dark fruit kicked in on the first, full of energy, with lovely ripe tannins, great balanced, very polished and ending pleasingly long! A slutty Echezeaux and good company on a sunday night! WOW!

Quite powerful rich fruits on the nose. Gorgeous aromas; huge, dense palate. Lots of matiere. Burly but superb build. Very long - persistent. Brooding. 93-94
