Very good. My recollection of the 06 Alzingers was that they were out of balance and too alcoholic. But this was well integrated... very unctuous to be sure while still maintaining its acidity to maintain the balance. An excellent pairing to a tomato galette.

Another great bottle. Lots of ripe, fragrant citrus and stone fruit tinged with mineral salts, stony notes, and more exotic floral and herbal elements, all conveyed with elegance and polish on a medium weight frame. Love the balance and length here, and the acidity makes this feel incredibly refreshing.

Quick notes (Vernon) : This had been opened one day. Orange, citrus, floral. Quite austere and piercing. (=)

Riper and more fruit forward than I normally expect Alzinger to be, but this is phenomenal. A core of ripe peach and citrus fruits accented by stony, dusty and more exotic herbal and lilac elements, all conveyed with Alzinger's typical sense of purity and lightness. Leftovers are even better, more focused, precise and floral the next day. Glad I went long on the '12 Alzingers.

Various Wines @ Salil's : A beauty of a wine to just hold and smell. Lots of exotic florals and spices (jasmine and ginger immediately come to mind) compete with each other, along with a "gun-metal" and mineral note. This really pierced the palate in a good way (I wrote "pleasing painful persistent palate piercer"). This was neck and neck with the 2009 Raveneau MdT for my white wine of the night. In the end, the Raveneau won, but not …

Tremendously mineral driven nose with fruit nuances of citrus, white flowers and white orchard fruit. Rich and dense, but with very good acidity and a great sense of purity -- overall very well balanced with a long minerally finish. Started to show a little petrol on the second day. Quite young and it will be fun to see where this goes with some time.

Fantastic nose, a lot of petrol with a stonier sense than a German riesling - more slate than fruit. Very pleasing in a dry style on the palate - chalky, mineral with enough fruit to give it some zing. Livelier than the gruners tasted before it. 91-93, depending on how much of a fan of the stony style of riesling you are.

This really stood out among the 15+ Austrian wines tasted at USQ. Great color, nose, depth and balance. Texture was very Burgundy like with stunning minerality and depth of the fruit. yum

Interesting to get a chance to drink this and compare to the experience of "tasting" it. I've got a much better read on this now and on the differences vis-a-vis the '05. This is creamier and fleshier, not showing the dynamic abrasive texture I experienced last time. Very pretty and pure. But didn't prepare me for the awesome showing of the '05 two days later...

Alzinger with Terry Theise (Seasonal) : Bright fruit with rough scrapes. Here the differences relative to the Liebenberg aren't so obvious. This might feel slightly drier.

Ripe citrus and mineral notes. Great purity and length with a nice acidic kick. Very good, should age wonderfully.
