Adrian Fog, Savoy Vineyard Pinot Noir, Anderson Valley

This wine is difficult to evaluate. It is big, bold and fruit-driven but with good acidity and tannic structure. It has plenty of that red cherry cola CA "pinosity," but it deviates into much more. The lack of filtering, the noticeable oak treatment and the relatively high alcohol keep it from being truly balanced and/or elegant, however. very different from the first bottle. This one not stewed like the first, but very lean. Fruit still ok, finish ok, but acidity seems to overwhelm everything else. Funny, totally different from prior experience. Maybe that says something about Fog wines??? Or the consignor???

Just bought two bottles of this from a consignor shop. My guess is these have not been stored properly.. Had the real sweetness of a 17% alcohol zin. Might be premox going on here.

Beautiful wine. Clear, dark garnet color. Nose of cherry and damp forest floor. Cherry, cola (almost a Dr Pepper), baking spice and light oak on the palette. Medium plus finish.

- Ruby color with fast forming legs. It's balanced with a light/medium body. Smooth texture with a medium finish - Very balanced but unremarkable.

Bottle was oxidized

Need more time to integrate the acids. Nice earthy and strawberry aromas. Will be very nice.
