Brooding on PnP, and likely still a few years away from really singing. But there's still much to like now, with notes of dark cherry, black plum, tar, and espresso notes coalescing throughout. Mouthwatering too, sporting lively acidity. Firm tannins cement the excellent structure here.

Importer Tasting: Le Storie Wines (Chain Bridge Cellars, McLean VA) : Importer tasting. After my palate was beaten up by a couple mountain Nebbiolos and subsequently 3 Sangiovese, this was surprisingly less tannic and had more sweet fruit. Perhaps the vintage speaking? I've liked quite a few 2018 Chiantis which have also been open and friendly. It's good, but I can get 2 or 3 bottles of kickass Chianti for the price of one of these.

Reticent nose with sour cherry and saline spiciness. The palate leans on red cherry and raspberry flavors for substance with eucalyptus, wild herbs, and mineral touches. There is some bite to the tannins on the tip of the tongue, but it smooths out on the mid-palate. The finish is all crushed limestone and sea salt. 89+

Decanted for 24 hours. Licorice, hint of chocolate, camphor and sandalwood. A hint of salinity, nice acidity, tannins and balance. Superb!

A savory and slightly rustic Brunello with notes of licorice, herbs, and potting soil, supported by a core of red cherry and plum. The palate is smooth but shows some green and vegetal tones, with medium structure and a slightly muted profile. Not particularly bright, but still offers solid depth and a traditional character.

Medium bodied, well built and full of tannin. Licorice nose and deep flavors of cherries and spice. Herbal characteristics with much earthiness and a strong sense of the "dago reds" we used to consume in the 1970's. Still young and can hold for a few years but I would not push this too far; 5 more years maximum (drink by 2030).

Solid Brunello, red cherry Tannins took some time to mellow out in the decanter. Paired well with pizza.

Served blind. Fred's red for the night. Medium garnet in the glass. Nose of herbs, red fruit and a bit of potting soil. Palate is of lighter weight than most tonight with a sight uptick in acidity backing it all up. Very nice.....made for food.

Paler Ruby core, fading to a very slightly brown hue. Med viscosity. On the nose the wine had a med intensity, with ripe to overripe fruits, such as: cherries, black cherries, cranberries. It had lovely secondary aromas of cigar box, dark chocolate, vanilla. It's only 6 years old now, but already had some dried fruit characters, which were lovely. Overall balance is great, complexity is alright, and the length is a good medium. Good price/quality IMO.

Restaurant purchase, assume storage is good Environment was darkish, yellow lights, white tablecloths, kids ceilings, dark oak wood. Somewhat disappointed. Decanted both this wine and CVNE imperial Gran Riserva, which was a baby, and this a grandpa. I think it pay it's maturity apex. Usual Brunello character, though the nose wasn't at all fragrant, and it was lighter in colour (pale ruby/garnet) and mouthfeel, than dozens of other previous Brunello's.( restaurant lighting??) Alcohol is high, but finish a medium 30-45 …

Now owned and run by Poggio di Sotto, so quality should be very high. Even tasted at this young age, the potential is apparent. Red cherries, cedarwood, smoke - definite oak influence here - cinnamon, allspice, bitter herbs and plastic on the nose. Intensity of both flavors and aromas is medium. Overall rounded, though it gets bitter on the finish. Medium + body, medium acid, medium tannin. Hold for at least 5 more years; but has a lot of potential.

Here is a wine I never heard of. I was told it is higher elevation vineyards. Not offensive nor desireable in my humble opinion. Light cherry, light acidity, light tannins. Worthy drinker today if you want a lighter wine

Medium-deep reddish garnet in color. Full, forward & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries, blueberries & plums with overtones of earthy/dusty & floral notes, herbs, spices, minerals & a hint of cedar in the background. Medium-full bodied with a good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, mulberries & plums with earthy notes, spices, some herbs & minerals. Lingering dry finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & airing but has the …

Spicy, discrete fruit, but well balanced at that, not overdone in any way - no Amarone-style showing. #BenvenutoBrunello
