I was surprisingly pleased. This sat in my cellar for 18 years. Based on other comments I had low expectations. But the fruit was still noticeable, though muted. And fun. No bricking. Great wine on its mature days.

Surprisingly drinking very well now. Still plenty of smooth red fruits (raspberry & strawberry) up front, with a complimentary herbaceous mid and a pleasant mildly tannic & dry finish. Great value.

The Grenache dominance is identifiable as there's a red fruit profile of raspberry and strawberry with a slightly syrupy/cordial character. A bit of herbaceousness probably from the Shiraz or Mouvedre. Smooth drinking, not a lot of tannins. Well made, nothing offensive about it, but also fairly unexceptional.

Ruby colour. Medium body. Strong aroma, slightly acidic. Smooth taste, not too heavy tannin but little fruit.

Dried fruit, cardboard, some bittersweet notes and an old scurvy seadog in the nose - on the palate still with some fruity weight, sweetness and structure but way too broad. Declining, drink up or find a young chicken to cook it in.

Like previous commentator, my last bottle from a batch from Trader Joe's - one of the great bargains. Only a slight hint of browning round the rim (slight!) and clearly still a few years life. Slightly down from its peak. Syrah pepper still there, grenache coolness and tannins so integral to the whole, but the fruit is slowly drifting away. A beautiful wine, sad to have the last, but it would be a shame to waste it by keeping it …

My last bottle. I picked up a bunch of these at trader joe's some years back and had the patience to cellar them because I was so impressed when it was young. This still shines. It's like a cote du rhone wine from a good year with a very clean profile. Completely clear, still not much sign of age in the color. No garrigue, but it's got dark notes from the syrah and high candied notes from the grenache as …

Delightfully surprised at how good this bottle was. Based on previous reviews, I expected that this wine had passed its prime. The opening sips were hot. Wine mellowed quickly. Third glass, after about an hour and a half from opening, was excellent. I could see this wine holding up for a while longer.

I doubled aerated this wine through a venture before tasting (might have been a mistake). Color at the edge was a crimsony red moving to an inky dark purple. The nose reminds me more of a Rhone blend than a typical Aussie GSM. A little spice (possible white pepper), some purple fruits and earthiness. At first taste I get the same as the nose a little spice, purple fruit in the background. At mid taste I get a little bitterness, …

Opened my last 2 bottles with friends. It was seamless from bottle to bottle with no variation. Pretty much in line with my thoughts on 2/7/10! Not as complex as I thought, but still a very nice experience. If I had tasted these blind, I would not have picked up the Mourvedre part of the formula.

Bought a case of this at closeout 2 years ago for $15.31 PB. Waded thru 7 and was not impressed. Gave 2 away and forgot it. CT reminded me that I had 3 bottles getting "Long in the Tooth". Had 1 tonight with Veal Chop in mushroom/onion/butter /wine sauce and Linguine Puttanesca. 90+ outstanding! Nose was a little weak at first blush and then I picked up floral (and plum?). Color was an inky deep brick, purple. Lots of sweet …

Comments pretty much in line with previous reviews. Still holding up very well, think that there is at least another year left in it's drinking window, possibly two. Matched up very well with rack of lamb. [cork, 14.5% alc]

Dark garnet with a hint of brick red on the rim. Heady aroma of spice, alcohol and black fruit. Rich and thick on the palate, this blend of 53% grenache, 41% syrah and 6% mourvedre, is an excellent new world rendition of a Rhone blend. Paired wondefully with a mixed grill. It still has a year or two before it peaks, and I wished I had more.

Fresh, bright GSM flavors, some old world character (minerality, spice, density) matched with some new world pop. Alcohol is persent up front, but balanced and rolls into a nice finish. Just enough to rate 90 given reasonable price.

White pepper dominates the nose, hiding the fruit. More pepper on the palate and quite tannic. As others have said, this is at its peak--time to drink it up.

I agree with erikkanderson, this is definitely at peak. And time has done this one right. The notes on the nose aren't as powerful as the ones on the palate but there's cocoa, pepper, espresso, and sweet spices intermingling on a velvety textured palate. Finish is over 20 seconds. It paired very well with Lechon asado. Very good offering.

Big, heavy duty, not sure there is much fruit, some spiciness, oriental spice with mid-palate bitterness, nothing wrong, just not my taste. 84 pts.

This one still tasting good - the past couple of bottles were at the ends of their useful lifes - this had nice strong grenache and the berry flavors that made be buy it in the first place
