The level of complexity of the bouquet is astonishing, but the palate still has a few things to resolve. Over all a fantastic Rioja. Lovely!

Medium to dark purple with thin clear rim. Blackberry and black cherry with a hint of mint. Palate is black cherry and plum with some sour acid and fine tannins for a long finish.

It's a Reserva like this that reminds me why, when it comes to Rioja, I often like Reservas more than Gran Reservas. The latter are more "serious" and "profound," perhaps, at least if those two terms are essentially defined by the characteristics of advanced aging in barrel, but the former, when well done, strike that great balance between youthful Crianzas and aged Grans, emphasizing both acidic, fruity freshness and those American oak-driven elements so essential to the region. And so …

Deep red/magenta with dark core. Perfectly ripe plum and black cherry combined with prominent floral notes and just enough camphor/eucalyptus to remind you it's a Rioja. Full and expansive on the mid-palate with some fine-grained tannins. Smooth, medium length cherry, menthol finish. Balanced, fresh with some depth and complexity. 92-93 pts. Drank over three days from magnum. The best were the last two glasses. Decanted and stored in a stopped decanter at 4C. Initially after opening the wine was fruit …

Inky purple in color. Medium legs with no sediment. It smells and tastes like blackberry and plum. The body is medium to full. The wine has silky, slightly grainy texture with a medium finish.

This wine is all fruit. Nose full of wild strawberries, explosion of fruit in mouth. However there is not much else, some acidity, but lacks balance and depth. Also if I tasted blind I would not say it is a Rioja Reserva, but rather something from Rhone Valley.

Cherry and plum with spice aromas. Nice balanced taste, dry, cherry and a little tartness. Rich and delicious.

Nose of traditional tempranillo with some dark fruit and forest aromas. Starts out with a sweet red fruit followed by some tartness, like a dried cherry. A decent amount of tannins follow with some additional herbal undertones. This could probably use a couple more years, but I don't know if it will ever fully integrate. Not bad for the price.

Fairly ripe and fruity on the palate, with bing cherries, dark berries and toasty vanilla on the finish. This does improve with some air, but there's nothing here that's particularly distinctive or memorable. A decent value.

Light translucent ruby color, nose of slightly brandied wooded red cherries, med- textured palate with lots of red cherry fruit, some pineapple, no black fruit, and zingy med+ acidity. Some vanilla tones from wood. An upscale mass market wine that may hold but is best to drink now with a lighter entree rather than red meat.

Red and black fruit, pepper, tobacco leaves. Very fresh, good concentration, excellent acidity. Succulent, with a lovely cherry finish. For 9,90 euros this has amazing value. Will buy more as this should …

Initially tight but opened up after a couple hours. Lovely classic rioja flavors of leather, cherries, earthy tobacco and spice. Paired well with a medium rare burger with manchego and grilled jalapenos. Awesome qpr at $15. Will continue to improve.

Last of three bottles, confirming my previous ratings. Still a little muted nose but when it opens it is great. Vanilla, ripe cherry, warm, elegant, mineral notes (12/15). Palate is still young and fresh with focus on medium(+) acidity, medium tannins, vanilla berry notes, menthol and mineral freshness (11/15). Body is medium, balance is a little too much on the acidity side but in general this Crianza is well balanced (7/10). The finish is dry, long and dominated by vanilla …

Labeled "Oro Reserva". A blend of Tempranillo (85%), Garnacha, Mazuelo and Graciano. Fermented and macerated in stainless steel. Deep and dark cherry red with some translucency and a hint of youthful purple. In my limited understanding, this is a down the middle crianza. Cherry, vanilla, smoke and tobacco. Decent balance, nothing cropping out. Slightly tangy and spicy. Not bad. The wine looks ruby colored. There is no sediment in the bottle.

at 15-20 USD there is alot of competition for rioja but this is not a bad wine or QPR. i think i would have enjoyed it more with food. raspberry, tart cherry and menthol with a little bit of sweet oak. lost a bit of its luster day 2. i wish it had either a bit more earth, or was a straight up fruit bomb but right now this wine is good and balanced but i'm not eager to buy …
