Riversdale Estate Riesling Roaring 40s

Just over a year later and this has taken a turn for the worse with some unpleasant phenolics creeping into the back palate. I think the drink up recommendation is in the rearview mirror. Luckily my last bottle.

Light to medium yellow. Icy lime/lime cordial nose. Dry, based on taste and if it's 12.5% alcohol it must have been fermented to full dryness otherwise the % would be less if there was RS. Full bodied weight wise in the mouth, advancing fruit profile of granny smith apple/bruised apple with racy acidity. medium length clean finish. Purchase note - Call River Valley: This riesling is dry and fresh, striking just the right balance between its length, flavour and acidity. It has stone and lemon aromatics, with a crystalline character.

Wonderful, clean, beautifully precise Riesling fruit, showing good length and depth of flavour. Looking but bilingually simple, it is far from that and I anticipate will age very nicely. Quite a surprise to find this in Tasmania, but this might just be me being out of date.
