I did not find this over the hill as some notes have suggested. Years ago I remember this wine as being too much of everything. Time has softened it. Plums and some earthy wood notes. I do not see this getting better but not over the hill.

Translucent cherry red with no fading. Deep cherry fruit on the nose. The palate is stunning. Powerful, yet elegant. Bright, yet deeply flavored. Black cherries melded with strawberry and moist earth notes. Fine tannins, great acidity and balance. The finish lingers with graceful notes of cherry and strawberry. This started to fade just a bit after two hours open. It's a marvelous wine, but I see no reason to wait and in fact I would drink in the near term. …

Showing maturity, but not age. Dark fruit, clove and cola on the nose. Lacks some vibrancy and brightness.

Bright, crisp cherry and currant front palate. The residual tannins added to a nice long finish. Overall an excellent wine that aged extremely well

No fruit left. Well-balanced, some nice smokiness, but no fruit. Disappointing. Obviously held it too long. Drink it up, it's downhill from here.

Still deep ruby and very youthful-appearing, this wine also remains youthful on the nose and palate. Bright aromas and flavors of black raspberry, cherry, clove and coriander reside in a full-bodied, fresh frame. The tannins are medium-weight and fine-grained. Similarly, the alcohol (listed as 14.4%) is well-integrated. Solid in the middle and long on the finish, this is yet another "misunderstood" Merry Edwards Pinot. Needing time, it will not merit its maximal score until it has had at least another …

Meredith Estate has not held up as well as other vineyards, but still very good. Balance is suffering but still has dark fruit. Finish short.

It feels like it has been "forever" since we drank a Merry Edwards pinot. However, Cellartracker tells me it has only been 3 months. Oh, how I have missed you, Merry... We love Merry Edwards pinots! This one did not disappoint. It was bright with dark red fruits. Well balanced, and silky smooth.

This was really good. I have had very few wines with this burgundian taste -- leather and earth. but very nice fruit flavors too. We gave the wine almost no time to breathe and it was delicious.

Decanted for about an hour before serving. Not sure it needed it! Wonderful aromas of ripe cherries, raspberries, and red fruit. Paired with grilled rack of lamb, sweet red peppers, mushrooms, and Brussels sprouts. Wonderful subtle complexity with the food highlighting the rich berry flavors and a back-end hint of white pepper. Long finish that got better and better throughout the meal. Well balanced tannins should allow this to age well over another 3-4 years

Drank two bottles for a dinner party. First bottle was good, second a little musty. Overall very good. Worried about my other bottle, will drink soon. Big Pinot as expected from Merry.

Notes from memory the next day: Beautiful translucent ruby in the glass, with still just a touch of purple. The nose just leaped out of the glass with candied red fruits - raspberry, huckleberry, strawberry, salmonberry. The nose was big and bold, but the palate was light and delicate without being weak. In short, elegant. The sweet fruit flavors came through, but were less candied and more fresh and vibrant. There was just a trace of earthiness beneath. The mid-palate …

Popped and poured. Medium light red. Woodsy, spicy notes on the palate; interesting that on the website this is all Dijon 667 clone, which I thought was more fruit forward. On the palate quite a lot going on echoing the nose with complex flavors of sous-bois, herbs, and a bit of tannin. This actually quite structured and should age further; a bit of a surprise for the 2006 vintage which I have found to be relatively light and earlier maturing.

Open for 2.5 hrs. Cranberry, cherry, with big earthy aromas, pine needle, cloves and other spices on the nose. Very complex. Bright red fruit on the palate with nice acidity. Mellow mouthfeel but with nice concentration. Impeccably balanced - I can't imagine that this will get much better.

Medium-to-deep red/garnet robe. Quite intense nose of red cherries, strawberries, smoke and assorted spices. Medium-to-full-bodied on the palate, with medium-to-high acidity, medium but slightly coarse tannins and flavors mirroring the nose. The middle is full and the finish fairly long but a bit tart. Drink now-12/15.

Thought to take a look after the quiet '03. This is clearly more substantial in weight and concentration. Dark tones and a wonderful acid profile. Full rich nose then evenly coats the tongue, following thru w/ a very respectable finish of earth and subtly sour. Not quite as amazing as the Klopp but right behind.

Fantastic wine. Nice floral bouquet with a hint of rose. Great complexity - still very fruit forward, with well balanced acids. We had this with an '02 ME Windsor Gardens, and this was the clear winner.

Remarkably floral bouquet with roses, red fruits really making an initial strong statement. More fireworks on the palate. This is rich and velvety but finesse driven and elegant. Absolutely perfect harmony in a glass. Rich fruit but not sweet. Clearly from California, but complex and intellectual. Frankly, one of the better Pinots I've had this year.

Drank it after sharing a bottle of Clos Pepe. Talk about contrasting styles. Both bottles were sensational, but so different. This bottle wasn't nearly as acidic, it felt like I was drinking it at the right time. Fabulous balance of cherry, cocoa, and earth with a great finish. I liked this better than the 2002 Klopp.
