Solid Chianti - the strength of the wine is the balance - and the low price - clearly good quality for money - the wine will stay good for a number of years more - today it is full body but still fruity.

A few Italians with friends (St. Joseph Day celebration for Kallende) : Seems to be at maturity or damn close. Pop and pour, this took about 20 minutes to blow off some bottle stink and was great. Ruby in color, some purple at the core. The nose is cherries, slight dark cherries, roasted herbs and tea leaves. On the palate, lots of cherries and some dark cherries. Nice complexity. Good acidity. Tannins seem resolved. Good finish. Great with food.

Spicy on the nose - but a well balanced wine where acidity, tannins and fruit is well integrated. The palette is full body - we had it with a steak - which was perfect - the fruit is mature and you get a some mature herbs some cigar - and the wine is good value for money.

Dark garnet color turning crimson at the rim with a rich, earthy nose of black fruit, leather, tobacco, and dried herbs. The palate is full-bodied, brightly acidic, with a rich, mineral-filled texture. Flavors of black currant, dark cherry, anise, cigar box, nutmeg, vanilla and new cedar. Finishes long and spicy with hints of black peppercorn, Dijon mustard, tarragon, and cardamom. This is very good for the price - powerful but balanced. Drink now with 30 minutes decanting until 2022.

Tasted at the cellar door. A wonderful, open, inviting wine - a richness of fruit that you wouldn't aways expect from a Riserva, but this is definitely ready to drink now, with perhaps another 3-4 years ahead.

Drinking very well now. A bit more mellow. Nice medium to full body wine, excellent with a good Italian meal. Paired with roasted chicken breast stuffed with fontina, sage and procuitto. Accompained by roasted onions and potatoes and an arugula salad.

Is open for business now after some dwelling time. Delicious and deep chianti. Stuffing for further cellaring but this was my last bottle.

Continues to be in an akward state right now. Opens up well with young red fruits, oak, tar and liqorice up front, however, the wine slowly folds in on itself in a very acidic and somewhat hard-edged fashion leaving little drinking pleasure right now. Id say the tannins have blown off quite a lot since my last drinking. A shame because it leaves the acidity to dominate. Slightly bitter-sweet finish after a few hours decanting. Seems a bit out of balance at the moment. Volatile acids on the nose, red cherry fruit, a little oak. Palate very with marked acidity and quite tannic. Tart red cherry fruit lurking underneath but the overall pciture is somewhat disjointed. Might be an awkward phase but the bottle was not flawed. Day 2 - still massively tannic. Maybe time will be beneficial but for now it's a fairly plain experience.

This wine is anticipated to mature early but I feel it is still not quite there. Potential is clear, however. Very precise CC. Dark and red fruits with licorice, cigarbox, old woodshop and the classic hint of barn. Well composed. Decant for 1-2 hours.

An example of classic Chianti, in more than just the wording of the DOCG. Very enjoyable with some decanting at this stage. Will probably develop further complexity with time to merit an even higher score.

Il Molino di Grace (Parco dei Principi, Rome) : Ruby. On nose, light fruitiness and some minerality; cola and tobacco; all very subdued and did not develop much with time in the glass. Highish acidity, medium level of rough tannins, moderate alcohol. Simple, not perfectly balanced, missing the mid-palate.
