Deep Black red Intense aromas of candy, chocolate, mulberry and red plums. A savoury edge gives it some SA feel whilst there is still quite a noted vanilla and spice to suggest new oak. A succulent, almost velvety entry, with sweet fruits, great concentration and long, luxuriant tannins. It bursts with super ripe plum, mulberry, damson, raisins and marshmallows. Secondary characters of chocolate and cocoa powder, along with vanilla and spice, add oak influence even if it doesn't feel completely …

Dark ruby colour - suggesting a bit of youth, but actually drinking really well. Med intensity nose. Dark ripe plums, black cherry, spice, tar, cassis, vanilla, mulberry, raspberry jam. A complex number! Full body, dry, med(+) intensity, med(+) acidity, med (fine) tannin. Balanced, smooth, long fruity finish. Bit lovely.

Volgens de uitleg een handmatig geoogste wijn en afkomstig uit ruw landschap 'een bushwine'. Heel stevige smaak en weinig speels. Een goede wijn, maar niet echt uitdagend naar mijn smaak.

This has greatly settled down sice I last tasted it. After a 3 hour decant, there were no reductive notes, just big fruit and juicy mouthfilling freshness. Paired with a venison casserole, it went very well. I think it will continue to improv with age

Cellar Visit - Simonsig (Simonsig) : A medium to deep luminous crimson with aromas of blueberries, prune cake, hoisin towards plum sauce and steeped loganberry, with plenty of Costa Rican coffee notes, dark (70%) chocolate, and smoke, with some sweet spices. This is a big pinotage, with robust flavours. It definitely needs some hours in a decanter to settle. Defiantly South African, with just the faintest tinge of rubber on first opening that faded with decanter time. Decent tannin load, but nothing harsh. Very masculine wine, which I think will improve over time.
