Drinks quite basically, fairly smooth, but with some grip where you need it. A bit light on the midpalate. A pleasant mixed berry with faint leather, tobacco, and mineral. I unfortunately paid much more than 15 bucks for my bottle. 🙁 Lacked development, wore on in the direction of vanilla as I sat with it.

This is drinking spectacularly. It has smoothed considerably and it is now showing terroir, complexity and perfect balance. I am hoping that it will show more nuances in a couple of years as it currently lacks strong nose and layers of fruit.

Open 2 days. Pretty dark ruby with nice legs. Good nose. Dark fruit, plums and blackberry, graphite and earth. Mineral-driven. Medium body with black fruit flavored and a decent finish. Real bargain at $11.99. 4-11-15-9: 89/100.

A deep ruby, medium-bodied blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, the 2009 Vieux-Robin offers significant bang for the buck. Cassis, graphite, anise and tobacco are supported by fresh acidity and medium-weight, silky tannins. The alcohol (14.5%) is well-integrated, as is the oak. Dropping off a bit in the middle, it resurrects a medium-length finish. This is yet another example of how a great Bordeaux vintage can float all boats. Drink now-2020.

Acid-driven, slightly bitter, classic low level Bordeaux. Kind of weird -- I thought the flavors were ripe, but was still very light-bodied and acidic. This picked up a little weight on the second day, but was still quite light and unfocused. It was OK on its own, but actually drank pretty well with Iberico cheese and crackers. I wonder if cooler vintages from this Chateau are even drinkable.

Quality vintage. 09 Médocs are getting better and better. This Cru Bourgeois should get even better with some more time. The Cabernet Sauvignon is starting to dominate. High intensity, but this remains elegant and balanced. Nice perfumy, gummy candy, plum, cranberry, and leather on the nose. The flavor stays mostly true to the nose. The Bordeaux earth really shines on the palate once this wine opens up. Great Value. FYI: I wasn't able to take a picture, but the label …

Pop, pour, sit and swirl for 30 minutes, revealing black currant and soft leather on the nose. The palate shows currant and plum up front, with a pleasant leathery note carrying through to the juicy, tannic finish. A touch of unwanted heat, but a nice mouthfeel frames this excellent value, and it can and will drink well for more years to come. A steal at Costco for $13.

This was a nice surprise as it really delivered for the price. Merlot seems more expressive than the cab component. Flint and black currant and plum nose. Nice cut to the palate but there's a lush undercurrent of black fruits. Moderate finish with mostly flint and a hint of coffee. This can be drunk now or held medium term.

After a couple more bottles, I'm downgrading this wine. Don't know if the first one was just well paired, or perhaps there's bottle variance, but I haven't been as excited since then. Seems OK, but just average. I now feel there is better out there.

This was far better than I expected for a 2009 Bordeaux that cost less than $13. In contrast to other '09s that I've tried, this one is already well integrated and has lost much of the astringency one might expect to find in a younger Bordeaux. Wow, talk about a bargain buy. 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot.

Improved over time open -- probably worth decanting next time. Quite earthy and herbal, with great structure and tannin, and enough fruit to balance. It's a good QPR at $13. Might have some aging potential too.
