Quite cheerful right out of the game. Not especially complex, but nice fruit and acids, modest amount of chocolatey oak, bit of menthol. A very enjoyable, unfussy wine. No

From 100% Merlot, this has entered its downhill slide. Soft and polished, the fruit is fading, and you find more secondary notes of earth, tobacco, coffee, smoke and thyme. This requires consumption.

Past it. Now maderized. Still drinkable, if you believe (as I do) that wicked waste makes woeful want. Otherwise, cook with it.

Blind tasting of Grand Cercle wines 2011 vintage: Part III (Château Bellefont-Belcier) : This has juiciness and power. Somewhat drying tannin nonetheless, with oak derivation evident. Really reached for water… Bernard Burtschy said that the wine ages well… I still disliked the 2000, when tasted in 2005, but would like to try it now. I still feel it is too modern for my tastes. Too much oak.

A medium-bodied wine with a soft, dark chocolate and red plum note that is evident from start to finish. 88-90 Pts

Still has some life to it. Nice soft coffee and fading cherry notes. The smoothness in the palate I associate with cab franc. Not much of a finish but definitely accompanies a red meat meal (save a burger) well.

Opened and consumed. Getting a little old and tired, but still pairs well with steak (and chocolate later).

This fleshy, sweet, ripe wine features jammy black cherry, fennel and chocolate. It's medium bodied with round textures and a plummy finish. 88-90 Pts

nose - dark cherry, blackberry, coffee mouth - drinking great now. Very open. Juicy dark berry fruit fills the midpalate follow by a dry sweet finish with hints of chocolate and coffee liquor. Drink now (or Hold - but why?)

Great bouquet. Full bodied mouthfull of juice. Great wine for a very reasonable price. 2000 vintage, in light of the 2005 hype, high QPR.

Nice Bordeaux for a nice price. Very characteristic nose and approach. A little thin from the mid on out but delivers some nice red & black fruit, licorice.

Fantastic bouquet, very smooth and fruity. Sweet tannins. Drank after an hour decanting. Vaccumed/refrig and recorked until the next day and was unchanged.

Decanted about 1 hour. Much better after a little time in the glass. Deep color. Thick long legs. full mouth feel. More earth than the calif wines. Was a little dissapointed. Want to leave the other in the bottle a few years.

Its dense purple color is accompanied by a big, chewy bouquet of black fruits intermixed with minerals, smoke, and licorice. While immense on the palate, with high tannin, it has become more civilized after bottling.

OL At panos and Edith (Strasbourg) : Good concentration and viscosity and aromas of cooked fruit, a hint of spice and a quite a bit of torrefaction, edging on burnt wood on the nose. In the mouth it has a silky attack,ok acidity and fruit but lacks elegance and has medium length. I personally did not like it. 2 out of 5.

2000 Saint-Emilion Grand Cru at Edith and Panos OL (Strasbourg, France) : Very concentrated fruit on the nose as well as ink - heady and charming. Very good depth of fruit in the mouth, developing towards torrefaction aromas. Silky feeling. A little bit of alcohol on the finish that detracts slightly from the overall impression. [#6] (2/#8ex)
