Eaglepoint Ranch Winery Petite Sirah Eaglepoint Ranch

Very enjoyable despite being so young. The nose is very sophisticated - subtle plum and a hint of pine. Fills the mouth but is not overpowering. I expected more tannin, but was surprised that its approachable now. Fruit really shows itself, but this is not a fruit bomb. Glad I have more to try over the next few years

Drank this side by side with Jeff Runquist's PS (about the same price) - both were delicious, but the Eaglepoint was definately designed for longer-term enjoyment. EPR's PS was much more intracate with beautiful plum nicely intergrated with the oak, and enough tannins to dry the mouth (which I expected at such a young age). I even thought I caught a hint of eucalyptus which isn't exactly characteristic but definately kept me interested. Can't wait to see how this develops …

Wahoolazooma! This is a big, tannic beast. Deep purple, grapey, unctuous. A lot of pleasure, but it needs time.
