Don't often get the "wow" bottle under €25, but this is one of them. My thing! Yellow to light orange in the glass. Sweet candied lemon and ripe fruity orange on the palate. Good structure despite its sweetness. Slight bitterness counterpoints the sweetness very well. The food match (chicken in slightly sweet sauce with oven potatoes) was good but could have been sweeter with a more pronounced lemon touch). Awesome! Annual wine trip; Northern Rhone & Cote de Beaune with Bas; 5/14/2024-5/20/2024 (France) : [Tasting at Domaine Stéphane Ogier] Medium+ intensity on the nose with pear apricot, floral, minerality. 2022 vintage

Colour deepening, dark golden yellow. Intriguing nose. Medium weight, now very oily, good acidity and a crisp balance of rich fruit. Almost salty on the front of the tongue then long and unctuous. Tropical fruit, full bodied, savoury. Last bottle and certainly the best. Really well integrated deliciously complex now.

2014 vintage

Pale yellow, no crystals. Showing more complexity. Medium weight, pleasant oiliness in the mouth. Striking acidity, but peach flavours soon emerge with a follow on of something more savoury and a long, glowing finish. Hints of stone and warmth. Very enjoyable and strong enough for food.

Clean medium gold appearance. Appears unctuous. Nose redolent of white flowers true to the varietal. Medium+ body with low-medium acidity but still finishes med-long. Very enjoyable wine but I do appreciate Viognier.

2011 vintage

Last bottle. Still showing gentle honeyed April of fruit on nose, backed by mineral core to the palate. Still delicious, but it's starting to tail off with now a slightly flatter, and less long finish than a year ago. If you have some, drink it soon and enjoy it, and a touch more chilled than you may have had previous bottles.

First impression is that it's not as good as the 2013 or 2012. Very pleasant never the less.

2014 vintage

The nose was highly expressive, showing pear, peach, kiwi, spice, and exotic florals. On the palate, I found soft textures, yet it was surprisingly lifted, with ripe stone fruits and masses of inner floral tones. The finish was long and floral (flower petals) with peach skins and hints of spice.

Clear yellow, muted nose, medium weight, interesting mid range of soft fruits. May well evolve in bottle. Not as layered as I'd hoped.

Tasted blind. Clear, medium gold. The nose is clean, with tart but bruised fruit salad, white flowers, a little oxidation, some butter, organic earth and wet stone. The palate is dry, consistent with the nose, but showing both tart and ripe fruit, including golden apple, ruby red grapefruit, white peach, and unripe pineapple. Deep yellow / gold colour. Honeysuckle and musk on nose. Lovely buttery, rounded mouthfeel. Bitter marmalade at the start with a bit of ginger beer / butter on the finish. Mid-palette slightly thin but drinking nicely now.

I hope this was not a representative bottle, because it was just a shell of the 2013, missing the opulence, glycerine and the complex bouquet. This wine was fresh, pure and skinny, and nothing more.

WIML89 Tasted non blind. Straw color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of apricot, kumquat and nectarine. Flavors of peach, lime and cherry wasser. Medium acidity, light to medium body. Drink over the short term.

This is most likely getting past its prime, based on the previous reviews and our sense. Certainly enjoyed it, but not the subtle, zesty sense that others have noted. Instead this was more on the flat side and while a modest nose sense, it didn't rise to the 'wow' moment at nose or in mouth. [one small note is the bottle is nicely shaped, stands out visually]

Bought this on recommandation from the merchant. Although I see why people can appreciate a slightly oaked, perfumed viognier somewhat lacking acidity this is not my glass. Good, not spectacular.

As good and as elegant as a non-condrieu viognier can possibly be! Perfect perfume and balance and that touch of bitterness you find in the real stuff. Won't become better, enjoy now.

Tasting the Ogier at about 58 degrees. Light gold. Nice enough nose though shy. Sulphur is obscuring the aroma of the grape I think. If I stick my nose far enough into the glass I get baked apples, mango, and some pineapple, all subtle. Golden colour. Floral - rosewater to start, buttery middle and perfumed again on the finish with a touch of citrus zest. Still young. Enjoyable.

A few weeks after tasting the first bottle, this second bottle has more balance and less bitterness in the aftertaste. Now the viognier is really in balance with the viognier white fruit in the bouquet, its oily style and the modest core of bitterness that is (for me) the hallmark of this grape.

Tasted at a Clarion Wines tasting in London on the 14th November. I was hopeful that this would be as good as the last vintage I'd purchased, the 2007 and I was not disappointed. The nose is rich and deep, surprisingly so for such a young wine. On the palate it does not disappoint, delivering deep fruit with nicely balanced acidity.
