Trio Vintners Mourvèdre Den Hoed Vineyard

Nose of prune juice. Dark fruit, but little spice and no pepper. Medium heavy body, short to medium finish. Maybe we waited a tad too long

Going from memory. Darker and hints of raspberry syrup, layered with leather on the nose. Flavor is dense, if a bit sweet, and while finish has size, it's a bit hot, and not as round as I expected from Den Hoed grapes. A fine effort, very rich Mourvedre though.

This Mouvedre is a funny & charming wine, with black pepper, smoky meat, cedar, and blueberry flavors. I also found a lot of s’more flavors, with some prune &b molasses thrown in for godo measure, followed by cardamon. It was almost as if I was drinking a good cup of Chai with a s’more on the side. This is not a bad thing in my estimation – and 4% of Syrah rounds out the masculine shoulders. Chewy, dense and powerful, …

This is serious Rhone fruit....a deep, intense set of earthy fruit with berry and cherry combining for a long finish. This will certainly get even better with time. This exceeded my expectations as the nose was met with a midpalate of spice and fruit that I couldn't get enough of. I will be acquiring more, if I can.

Good bottle of wine, nice dark fruit profile. Nothing exciting though. Some chocolate and vanilla both on the nose and pallet. Meh overall.
