Umathum Gelber & Roter Traminer

Beautiful surprise from Austria. Sold in a bodega with 12 yrs in bottle. Deep gold color, intense nose of ripe fruit—familiar Traminer aromatic profile. Dry but fruit intensity on the palate teases sweetness. Unusual length.

glass stopper. aromas of lychee, roses, grapefruit and white flowers with some chalky minerality. full-bodied with some tannins, it has very good acidity to keep if fresh and pure as it cleans out what little RS there is to make the finish dry. finishes with some chalky mineral, rosewater and a little bitterness. on the second day, it maintained its perfumed fruit but did lose some of the bitterness.

Minerals, shale dominates the nose and also the taste. Suptle traces of roses. Great show of terroir. Very interresting wine.
