Medium ruby transparent. Fruit forward with tart red fruit like cherry and cranberry, sweet spice and nuances of forest floor. Just starting to show some development. Medium bodied with soft tannins, less fruity and slightly more earthy, nice spicey undertones; overall great balance and satisfying length. Quite good.

Vineyards planted in 1932 and 1955, 11 months oak. Medium plus nose shows tart cranberry, white pepper spice, pomegranate, cherry compote, fresh earth tone. Palate is wonderfully fresh, medium plus acidity, cherry layers, light spice, hint of sweetness is spot on, earth or tea leaf, very Oregon in style plus spice, like a Cotes du Rhone. Alcohol medium (12.8%), finishes medium length and nice balance. Great value.

In 2004 Piero, nephew of Nicolò Incisa della Rocchetta most famous winemaker of Sassicaia, crafts exclusively Pinot Noir wines in the Río Negro Valley of northern Patagonia, in Argentina. Bodega Chacra was founded upon the purchase of a plot of abandoned vines that had been planted in 1932, and renovated beginning in 2004 using biodynamic practices. The Barda is pale ruby, balanced with lovely terrior but is much more for current drinking. Enjoy this with your cheeses, charcuteries or fish.
