Domaine Drouhin-Laroze Chambertin-Clos de Bèze

Another Saturday at Knightsbridge - mostly blind (Northbrook, IL) : Tasted double blind. Meaty aromas with faded fruit and good earthy aromas. Shows meaty Gevrey character but somewhat short and clipped without Grand Cru density, but not much should be expected from a 1973 at this point.

Casual Burgundy Dinner (The Bristol - Chicago IL) : Far better than another bottle from same source a few months ago. Perfumed aromas to start with rich spice. Not much fruit but wonderful earthy aromas. Not much left on the palate, nothing wrong, just short and simple.

Holiday Wines at Knightsbridge (Northbrook, IL) : Nose of faded tea and musty forest floor aromas. Earthy flavors, short, simple, clearly decades past its prime.

Saturday Tasting Group (Knightsbridge Wine Shop (Northbrook, IL)) : Really awesome wine to experience. Had to add the vintage onto cellartracker in fact. Cola in color. Rosy cola in fact. Brownish orange. A little tan even yellow at the rim. Blood orange aromatics, light molasses, strawberry, kiwi, even pear and tropical fruit - LIME. Beautiful complete wine. So much life after this much time. Drink now for sure, but this is a winner in my book.
