@work 70% Nebbiolo, 20% Vespolina, 10% Croatina color: "this has been messed-with". Very clear, light+ concentration ruby red at the core all the way to brown rim. Nose: really interesting. Strong cherry. oxidized cherry. Slight earth, slight black pepper. Elevated alcohol - 13.5%, elevated acid, slightly elevated tannins - chewy nebbiolo-like. Guessed Sangiovese, but acid wasn't bright enough and the pepper made no sense.

Red berries, cherries, herbs, and a hint of leather on the palate. Red fruit on the palate with medium+ acidity with tongue coating tannins. Nice finish. Could use a couple of years in bottle.

87 for first 30-45 minutes; 91 three hours later. Initially clamped-down, with some ferrous minerality. With air-time, though, the thing expands to become a spicy, well-fruited, soft-tannined, acid-boned beauty. Extraordinary baking spices; some ginger; some red fruit that never quite amounts to cherry, but isn't either some other thing. Will be getting more. 4 hours in: classic tar & roses. Orange peel? Polished, silky. Tannins ever-present. 5 in: black cherry.
