Opened at Inda Bar. P&P and enjoyed. If the bottle was mine, I would have decanted this as it was quite heavily reduced and really would have benefited from air. However, it just wasn't one of those evenings. Still, you can tell the quality of the winemaking here - elegant, clean, not rustic at all and this will be very good given a few more years. I'd recommend revisiting in 5+ years.

Dark and brooding, tight and tannic. This softened a bit over 2 hours in a decanter. Leave the other bottle to rest longer and hope the fruit outlives the tannins.

First wine from Clerget. This is excellent, really like this. Chalky, great substance and tannic structure, fresh.

Pommard & Volnay tout en nuances - Grands Jours de Bourgogne (Palais des Congrès - Beaune) : Walkaround tasting with producers. Bottled one month ago. Destemmed. Red berry throughout with good+ intensity, faintly spiced and charming, very good concentration, slightly firm, better from 2027-.

Excellent+ Loved this from PnP before dinner and with dinner where it paired nicely with rack of lamb with roasted potatoes and brussels sprouts. Brooding plumy fruit with some meaty earthy undercurrents, yet somehow fresh and lively. Really nice depth that somehow floats. That's the best I can do for a descriptor for now... Note: I was concerned when I opened the bottle. The foil had to be torn off in bits, because it was stuck to the bottle neck …

The Verticals Tasting at 2023 La Paulée (Eventi Hotel, New York) : Slighly lighter hue than the 2015. More complex nose with fruit plus complicating high tones. Great soil/fruit interplay, superb feel. This has elegance in spades. Outstanding, accessible young Volnay.

Barrel samples. Very expressive bouquet of spices and potpourri. Lovely on the palate.

Very pretty nose of rose petal, forest floor, and tea. Brilliant, clear garnet color. Lovely, balanced, delicate, with flavors that carry through to a quite long finish. Pure and refined. Really enjoyed this with a blanquette de veau Sunday night meal. Surprising quality and wish I had more but, alas, my only bottle. Should continue to age well for at least 4-5 years.

Tasting at Domain Yvon Clerget (Pommard, France) : Light ruby. Fragrant, fine, and focused but a little subdued today.

Thanksgiving in Volnay: Domaine Y Clerget (Domaine Y Clerget (Pommard)) : Barrel sample at Domaine. Darker and richer than the village Volnay. The fruit is still quite plum with good concentration and plenty of fresh acidity. More black than red cherry. 90-92 points.
