Wow, who says Zinfandel does not age well. Just lovely !! Perfect cork after over a decade in the bottle, easily removed. Consumed over two days. This balanced Zinfandel softens with air and develops nicely. Dark red color with little to no oxidation and good clarity. Aromas of blackberry and fig. Flavors of bramble berries, boysenberry black raspberry, and black currant. This gorgeous wine has a medium to long finish. This very special Zinfandel blend is sourced from vineyards in …

sb Huge full flavored, very high octane zin Soft opening and delicious with a ton of heat in the finish. Delicious and remarkable at 12 years old in this situation, but caution if this is not your style. This doesn’t seem to be in any danger of cracking up soon.

Opened and poured. Unfair note, as a crown popped off earlier in the day and tasting this wine with an exposed crown left a twingy, odd feeling. Somewhat muted nose, but gains with air. Will have to update more on day two.

With Chili. Opened and poured. Explosive fruit cobbler, boysenberry nose. Roasted black fruits on the palate....toast, blackberry and lots of blueberry as well. Reminiscent of blueberry preserves spread over a slightly burnt piece of toast. Nice chicken.

Popped and poured through an aerator. Showed surprisingly well with nose of blue and black fruits, some oak and spices. On the palate, the fruit is still substantial with a background of oaky vanilla, spices and some sweet tar. This was rather yummy and unexpectedly big still for a 10 y/o zin. Drink up.

Opened and poured. Dark purple. Sweet and sour, showing lots of bramble and puckering tartness. There’s wild blacks and some tart underripe reds as well. Well made...will see if some air opened it up further.

Opened about 20 min then drank over an hour or so. Light plum nose. Black fruit, plum, green pepper and a bit of dust. Just a hint of stewed prunes made this not my favorite vintage of this wine. Still a good Biale offering but Probably a bit past it’s prime.

Opened and enjoyed. Very nice offering....dark, thick but not too flabby. Peppery, black fruits, plum, cherry, bramble. Nice.

A quick decant more for sediment than aeration. Phenomenal nose of black grape, blackberry, and black current cooked jam. This wine remains lush, fragrant and juicy braced with firm yet velvety tannins with that signature Biale zin touch of spice on the finish. Glad I sat on this one. A great accompaniment to spicy sausage or Mexican food.

Much to my surprise, this wine had a lot of excitement left! Blue and black fruits combine with underbrush and Mediterranean spice in this mature Zinfandel. Everything was in place and so integrated. There is still some life left in this beauty, but drink up.

Judy Blue's Over the River & Through the Old Wines Event (Judith's House, WI) : Very dark red/purple color. PNP, followed a glass over 45 minutes. Herbal, harsh, alcoholic, pepper, black and blue fruits that feel thin now, medium plus body. The chicken is done - I mean over done.

Rustic black fruits and tons of spice and oak on the nose. Layers of dry blackberry and plum fruit. Resolved tannins and oak on the very dry finish.

Though full bodied Zins are no longer my preference, I did like this wine. This only showed moderate fruit but it had a lot of acidity that made it very food friendly.

94. Pretty damn awesome. Very fruity without being a fruit bomb. I compared to the 4-berry fruit pie from the local diner in Maine which is to die for. Enough tannins remained to provide some structure. Fantastic drink.

Nose of blackberry and clay. Powerful, rich palate of blackberry, blue fruits, and a massive spice wall that fades into a tang of oak, blue fruit, and super smooth finish of minerals.

Flavors weren't as harmonious as usual but had bright fruit flavors. Could be an issue with this bottle. Acid a bit noticeable on the finish at this point. Opened after we took it on a plane trip, so it could have been transportation issues.

Oaky nose with hints of blackberry. Wall of sweet black fruits with vanilla and minerality, with some acidity that softens into a finish of sweet tannin, black fruits, and a mineral edge. 89 points on initial pour but it opened up and improved over time - maybe decant it.

Lush fruit, very nice, long finish. Alcohol is high, but not out of whack. These wines really are great with five years of age. Had been drinking them a year or two early and can see the difference. Red and black fruits.

Splash decant ... Tart and tangy, with bright cranberry red fruits up front, and a big splash of acid. Mineral notes as well. Not at all hot, but still somewhat tight and tannic right up to the final glass about four hours after opening.

Upon first corking, this zin opened to coal-laden blackberry, plum and cassis aromas. The full-mouth feel attack first approached as jammy, but tannins quickly turned it to soft-licorice and plum with back notes of dark cherry and cinnamon mid-palate, leading to a coffee-tinged dark fruit and stone tannin-filled finish. Lets see how it airs for a bit...
