Its a good etna rosso but expected something more from a cru.. im not sure if this will be better but structure suggest this might be better in 4-5 yrs. For me it lacked complexity and layers but fruit was good though! Cranberry, cherry. 91p

This '21 'Contrada Calderara Sottana' from Benanti was enjoyed with a whole roasted chicken, potatoes, and carrots. At PnP, this wine wasn't showing much exuberance or energy. After about an hour, it slowly came to life but throughout the next handful of hours, it remained reduced overall. Red with a brownish tint color. Smoke, volcanic minerals, oak, cherry and red fruit. Sophisticated with excellent balance.

Lovely and refined cherry fruit with a touch of warmth. Translucent and intense wine with a good depth and lovely structure.
