Still fresh and vibrant, morello cherry notes on a medium bodied frame with plenty of food-friendly acidity. Good but paled in comparison with the 2001 Amarone and the 1996 super Tuscan served at the same dinner.

Drinks modern, but not too modern. Rounded, ripe, and smooth - only slightly rustic...elegant. Mouth-filling mid to light bodied - dark and blue berried, faint tobacco and leather. Fresh and approachable, soft not mushy. I only wish this wine had a "bit" more traction to it, maybe some depth. Nice LONG finish. I paid $30 - feels a bit more like a $20...but worth trying!

With the price of the average red Italian wine thru the roof, this is a nice little bottle for the price. Reliable for this dinners with friends/guests who know the diff between red and white but not much more. Not a lot of depth but certainly adequate.

Not an earth-shattering wine, but worth mentioning as a little geography lesson. Carmignano DOCG is one of Tuscany's most premier non-Chianti wine-making zones, and has been since the Middle Ages. Here, Sangiovese has been blended with Cabernet well before the concept of the Super Tuscan was introduced. The Barco Reale label is its little brother, often made from less noble grapes and intended for early consumption. They are wines that show less aging power. Good balance, abeit little secondary expression.

Possiblement trop jeune..... Grande déception !

Bright cherry, smoke and earth. Medium-bodied with very soft tannins. Finish is soft and easy.

I think I paid $12 for this, at which price it's a fine wine for pizza or other casual mid-week fare. Nothing to get excited about, but quite pleasant and palate friendly. As good or better than many chiantis in this price range.

Pretty typical super Tuscan, but, that said, it's awfully nice. On the nose, cherry, licorice, mint and forest moss (think fallen log in the middle of a hiking trail). Huge flavor profile on the palate - red fruits and plum, with slight floral and leather notes. Great acidity, with big tannins and a long finish. And when I say big tannins, I'm talking tooth-strippping tannins, more than I've experienced on most super Tuscans. Reasonably priced, great with pasta and red …

Wine was a bit short at the end, but overall a very nice table wine to go with pizza, or any tomato sauce dish. Fragrant and fruit forward with mild tannins. Enjoyed and will purchase again.
