Myuge Cabernet Sauvignon

At age 10 on vintage, the Myuge is drinking quite well, likely just on the downslope of its peak, but still has lots of fruit, with blackberry and cassis dominating the profile. Finishes medium+ and quite integrated and pleasant. A nice surprise.

Similar impression as 9/11/10, although the tannins this time around seem a bit more coarse and the wine, overall, is a bit more tightly wound. Tonight's tasting was 1-2 hours after splash decanting. My 9/11/10 tasting was from the Vintage Wines, Ltd. wine bar and I suspect that it may have seen a bit more air at that time. Drink now-12/17.

Tasted unblinded from the Vintage Wines, Ltd. wine bar ("Current Cabernets & Blends" tasting). Deep-to-opaque purple/ruby with ruby rim. Clean, moderately intense nose showing aromas of bing cherries, black currants and vanilla. Medium-to-full-bodied on the palate, with low acidity, medium sweet tannins and straightforward red and black fruit flavors (mirroring the nose). The oak not subtle, while the middle palate is solid. Medium, smooth finish. This is a very respectable Napa Cabernet for the price. Drink now-12/17.
