At age 10, this shows no sign of slowing down. Finely pitched and intense red fruit; almost carignane-like, with bright pomegranate, wild strawberry and cherry skin. Mouthwateringly chalky/stony minerals and lovely inner mouth perfume, lead to a bit of gently puckering tannins and a fine cashmere finish. I’m generally not a Grenache guy, but this is really really good. A pity it’s my last bottle!

The first tasting note explained everything. This is what Burgundy drinkers wish a Grenache can be. The 2021 vintage is low in abv, compared to other vintages I have tried, and hence more lifted and more translucent red fruit. Curious how this will become in 5 yrs. Total <1000 bottles produced if I m not mistaken, glad I have more bottles to go.

The elation at (finally) encounter the world that is Juan Bulnes’ Bernabeleva - here in what surely must be one of the most underrated wines I have had in 2024, t Viña Bonita (v21, 13% ABV) - high-elevation old Garnacha vines showcasing what this grape can bring! Terrific, fully translucent shiny bright & light red in appearance. Precise, open nose w balsamic, deep scents of cranberries, raspberries, cherries, dried herbs, licorice, bunch of spice, leading to a pinpointed, m-bodied, juicy-dry, …

Almost 5 years since my last bottle, and impression is quite the same, if slgihtly more subdued at this stage. High-toned, super elegant Burgundian texture and focus, flowers and roasted strawberries, yet hit with a bit more overt alcohol, which tips it slgihtly. Tannins clench up after a couple hours.

This is one of the lightest colored Spanish wines I’ve ever seen. I think some Roses from the south are darker than this. But it’s quite good. I don’t get any of the pepper that lighter Grenaches usually have but lots of strawberry. Quite nice.

light red with some brownish / blackish glimmers. black cherries on the nose, licorice, sweet cinnamon. aromas are light, yet focused. tart cherries, hibiscus and cola in the mouth. what it lacks in sweetness it makes up in delicious acidity. just a touch of tannins in the back. austere, sexy, but at the same time less focused than the nose.

This is a wow wine. Striking in so many ways. Color is very light, transparent ruby-garnet - and captures light like a precious gem. Nose is elegant - wild strawberry, warm soil, dried flowers. In the mouth, it’s the most elegant, lithe Grenache I’ve ever tasted - delicate wild strawberry, more dried flowers, leaf matter, assertive acid, thrumming baseline of cinnamon/clove, crushed rocks, super refined tannins that caress like raw silk, and an impressive, attention grabbing finish. Layers of pretty …
