This was not to my liking, very light in body and texture. The fruit was young and acceptable. Will not add this to my summer drink list. I prefer the 2020 Cab instead.

Enclosed by screw cap, this GSM blend has a fresh, medium+ to medium-high intensity nose that offers lovely black pepper, spice, raspberry and blackberry aromas layered over earthy and meaty notes. It's full-ish bodied, dry, and sweetly fruited with ripe dark red berry, blackberry, black raspberry, black pepper, oak spice, earth, and meaty flavours which are supported by fresh, well-balanced acidity and smooth, firm, and somewhat grippy tannins that are youthful. Some minty herbal notes on the mid-palate. Savoury with …

Colour: cherry red Nose: black cherry, cassis, plum, blackberry. Bitter dark chocolate. Sweet spice. Palate: black cherry, cassis, blackberry, plum. Cocoa. Sweet spice. Moderate-fresh berry-like acidity, firm chunky tannins, drying. Not enormously complex, but very pleasant and great value. Quite rich and full bodied, 14,3% alcohol.

The GSM. Fun fresh berry fruit on the nose and then some tight bitterness on the palate. Short finish, just cracked.

Enjoying the usual D'arenberg complexities. A dull red, almost a little brown in the glass. VERY ripe plums, cherries and perhaps some candied strawberries on the nose complemented with some vanilla essence. Really enjoyed coming back again and again for the smell alone. A bit hot on the palate. Red fruits dry out very quickly and the finish turns quite long and herby.

Concentrated jammy nose of black fruit. The black cherry, blackberry, and blue berry flavors explode in the mouth. Finishes with a nice shot of spice. ($15)

bad news, this wine sucked. had an earlier vintage and liked it, but this was cheep red wine all the way. only some mild dusty cocoa tannins distinguished it from a 60 pointer. pass pass pass all day long at $10.

Nose of fruit cake, dates and blueberry. Faint for an older wine. Mouth of plum, chicory, vegetable soup, fennel, generic aged wine flavours and composted cut grass. Lovely balance. Medium length finish of berries and leather. Much better than on release (I thought it was a jumbled mess at the time). Still stunning after 2 hours of airing.

I had saved one of these from a few years ago for fun and out of curiosity--once upon a time this was one of my favorite go-to wines. Recent notes had suggested that it was showing quite nicely so I decided to see for myself. This bottle though was not at all consitent with the notes by others here--unpleasantly fake-tasting fruit, VA, heat, blech. I'll hang on to the bottle til tomorrow to see if it gets any better, but …

Upon opening quite closed, decanted, and it had far more structure and was far more restrained than I expected; not a slurpy caveman wine, and while not complex, either, really more old world at this point in its life than new; a wine I never would have purchased -- a gift -- and a v. pleasant and enjoyable surprise; at around $10, apparently, you can do a whole, whole lot worse than this bottle

Believe it or not, if you let this open for an hour or so it mellows out very nicely into a decent bottle of wine. Initially the flavors are sour cherry, almost sauer krauty (which isn't all bad), but when given a chance to open the flavors smooth out into soft plum and raspberries.

Didn't really let it have much time to breathe, but even then this was rather quite enjoyable. Nose was a bit hot with alcohol, but not too overwhelming with notes of dark berries. On the palate, everything was blended rather nicely and didn't taste hot despite the nose. Nice balance of dark berries, just a touch of oak with perhaps the slightest bit of mint along with the tannins which seemed appropriate for this wine and a moderate finish. All …

Bottle is getting up there in age. Both the nose and taste had distinct mineral notes that were not there when it was younger. Definitely has lost something with age.

Day 1: Nice fruit, not much of tannins, vanilla, ligh oak, light and not complex easy drinking everyday wine. Stay away if you do not like the sweetness. Decant for one hour is highly recommended. Day 2: Kept in bottle screw capped, this wine has developed to a solid wine, with pepper, plum, mint and stronger tannins and a little spicy at the end, still nicely integrated with around 20 sec finishing, no more the sweet fruit forward wine in …

Still a good wine, surprisingly two years after WA says it's time to drink. Good storage conditions I guess. Wine had some amber but was still fruity, but more muted than the last time I had the wine. Two more bottles left and I am in no hurry to drink them.

Nice color. Berries and pepper on the nose. Sweetness on the initial palate, followed by blackberry jam, some pepper and a hint of raw meat (or ham?). This wine would definitely benefit from higher acidity, it lacks complexity. Good QPR, but I don't enjoy this jammy-juicy-faky-style.

Old World on the nose, New World on the palate. Lots of barnyard, armpit and even some brett on the nose, while flavors of red fruit were evident on the palate. Smooth and lively, mid-length finish. A little more weight would have given this wine better structure and a couple more points.

I have had this wine in my cellar for 4 years and never got around to trying it. I finally decided to try it with some Chinese takeout with the wife. We were pleasantly surprised. The wine was not overwhelming but was still able to stand up to the strong flavors of the food. I would defiantly drink again. I am looking forward to trying the 2000 vintage that I have as well.

Drank with Dev. Decent Rhone blend, which is still something I'm coming around to, but I certainly don't regret having more around. Would be good with some venison. As I find with most Rhone-style blends, it needs a little time to open up. Definitely worth the $10 regular price and a great bargain for the $8 I paid for it.

Needed something for dinner, filets on the grill, and had forgotten about this. Throwing quite a bit of chunky sediment. Garnet color, with nice aromatics. Cherries, raspberries, pepper and maybe even some blueberries rise from the glass to greet you. Slightly thin mouthfeel, but there's still quite a bit of red fruit and spice on the palate that carries through on a finish that lasts for about 20 seconds.

Red, not too deep. Warmth and chocolate nose, black fruits and oak. Palate is a little more earthy and has more evident alcohol and acid. The fruit has a vibrant attack and is also more jammy with some sweetness.
