Amazing buy @ $15 from Benchmark bin sale. Eucalyptus, mint, vanilla, smoke and a bevy of fruit flavors. Prime drinking with a rich and forever aftertaste. For those in the know, worthy of a cabin wine. 94+

One of the first bottles of Shiraz I bought 6-7 years. I've had many of Glaetzer's wines. And would rank this one with the Bishop and Mitolo GAM. After 10 years of bottling, cracking my final bottle. Cellared perfectly and upon uncorking there was an immediate scent of ripe fresh fruit, dark berries, cotton candy, caramel, little bit of earth and some oak. On the palette, its slightly sweet (similar to the Amon-Ra except without the finesse and pedigree). Again …

Had this with left over Turkey and fixings, still! I didn't take extensive notes, and looking back, I didn't take notes when I last consumed this. What stands out for me is that this wine was one of many that I had been expecting to underperform and it not only didn't underperform, it stood out. Deep dark brooding nose of black fruits and spices and oak. Lovely in the nose and lovelier in the mouth. Long delicious finish. Nothing wrong …

Alcohol :: 14.5% Popped and Poured and this showing well. Eucalyptus oil aromas dominated the aromatic profile with vanilla. This is a fruits driven Shiraz that offered concentrated dark plum and blueberry on both nose and palate, very rich and opulent, good punch on the entry and mid palate, not complex but the density is not bad. However, this wine lacks of the structured to support the fruits which can't carry through the power from the mid palate to the …

Flot syre, god balance og lang eftersmag. Hvis man kan lide den søde afdeling af shiraz er denne virkelig flot.

Continue to love this wine, enjoy its development. Full-throttle Oz Shiraz, with Ben's name all over it. Layers and layers, fun ride.

glossy dark crimson and dense texture. The warm and alcoholic taken me by surprise - it's either of its 14.5% or it could be that i haven't had true oz style shiraz for a little while - anyway, on the pallate, the wine has fine/soft tanin, with vanilla, caramel, ripe blueberries and dark chery.

Liked this a bit more in the 'Battle of Ben Glaetzers' (against the 2007 'Bishop'), it seemed to have the benefit of a bit more bottle age, and it is no where near it's peak in my opinion contrary once again to the CT drinking window - Black, well concentrated with a nose of black fruit, pepper, blueberry, spice and vanilla, well structured, balanced, decent complexity and a silky smooth finish with excellent length (91 Points).

The cork was in good shape; there was some sediment in the bottle. The first thing I noticed was the great, dark colour. The wine had a great nose right of the bat, with sweet spices, crushed pepper, ripe fruits and chocolate notes, just gorgeous! After a short decant the nose was even more intriguing, showing mint, white pepper, sweet spices, chocolate, plum, cassis and vanilla; the aromas took over the whole room. The wine was slightly sweet, just a …

As my CT stats will attest, my Australian Shiraz stash has been dwindling over the last couple of years, with one small exception, a Ben Glaetzer wine. He really has an uncanny knack for getting these ‘take no prisoner’ styled Shiraz’s and orchestrating them in such a way that hits all the hedonistic buttons, all the while having his wines exhibit a natural, common sense delivery. I had this a year and a half ago, and did found it a …

Very dark with a purple rim. Powerful, jammy and quite intriguing nose. Picked up creme de cassis, dark chocolate, oak, maybe a little blackberry and blueberry. Also a minty/ mineral thing dancing in the background. Full bodied, very soft and mouth coating. Still jammy with dominated by cassis and maybe some rashberries/cherries and licorice. The oak also still present but not over the top. Good acid and length, a little hot but okay balance. Was actually better/more balanced the second …

nice nose - blackberries, mint, meat. decanted for 1.5 hours. on the palette - blackberries, oak, vanilla, mint, red meat, nice flavours with a medium-long finish. i like 04 wallace and the 04 director's better. however, this is still a nice tasty wine, tannins are smooth, acidity is balanced. think this will last for another 2 years easily. a good interesting wine. 91-92.

Stylistically thisis similar to the 04 Amon Ra tasted a couple of months ago. Ripe creamy red and blue fruit, gentle vanilla and a very smooth, lush, finish. Lacks some minerality and complexity for me and some acidity, but very decent for what it is and there is enough interest to merit a glass or two. A third of the bottle left overnight and very little difference. An enjoyable mid-week steak number. ***

Crimson-purple; blackberry jam, dark chocolate, toasty oak, eucalyptus; ripe berry, slightly spicy, lots of glycerin, full body, a bit hot, fine tannins, long finish. Decanted 3 hrs. Big Aussie shiraz with a 'wow' nose and a plush, low acid style. Good winter wine.

I think Ben Glaetzer is the best wine maker in Australia but this effort doesn't quite do it for me. It has all the good stuff the mid palate is a bit hollow and leaves me wanting more.

It took some time for the different components of this wine to integrate, but after two hours in the decanter this was a great bottle of Shiraz. The nose was gorgeous, with plum, cassis, pepper, a hint of milk chocolate and a poopy kind of note. I could have smelled this all day long! The balanced wine had a nice, warm, creamy mouth-feel. I got a little sweetness on the initial palate, with plum, berries and pepper, transitioning to milk …

dark-rubin colour with black center, in the nose stewed cherry fruit and a hint of pepper. on the palate also dark fruits, very thight but for all that elegant, with pleasant tannins. despite the high alcohol it is harmonic with all attributes of a great wine. I would recommend storage of maximum 8 years. At € 20,-- good PQR.

Decanted 1 hour. Ben Glaezter wine. Classic South Australian nose of grilled steak, blueberries, licorice along with a strong vanilla component. Big, big wine. I initially found this a bit hot and disjointed, though it was evident that there was high quality fruit lurking in there somewhere. Fortunately, extended time in the glass brought things into focus, leaving a rather exotic yet suave medley of blue and boysenberries, licorice, and just enough acidity to keep things moving along nicely. I …

This is my favorite Australian Shiraz under 16€/20$. We had it with wild boar and it fits perfect! Very dark red, nearly black in the glass with a small lighter rim. Aromatic und dark nose with black fruits and licorice. The palete was very silky, velvet and smooth, but powerful loaded with sweet tanins, black berries, licorice, cooked mushrooms and dark chocolate as well. Great work by Ben Glaetzer, one of my favorite winemakers from Oz. The finish was long …
