Pretty explosive nose, full of redcurrant, iron, thyme, prosciutto, smoke, and a touch of funk. So much of everything to like; no doubt one of the top expressions of Brunello. 95+ now, but so much more to come.

Tasted after the 2011 Annata. Lots of finesse and delicacy on the nose. Dark cherries and plums, pure and ripe; floral notes, charred wood, earth, olives, and spices - just beautiful. On the palate surprisingly approachable - soft, silky, incredibly harmonious without any rough edges. The tenth and most anticipated vineyard of my 2016 Montalcino trip - Biondi-Santi, the king of Brunellos. During the tasting, Jacopo himself stopped to say hello, very charming. Modest nose with medium inky hue. First taste was a typical Brunello burst - tangy, oranges, ripe cherries with some sweet peppery spice. Very smooth finish with lingering taste with hint of charcoal. Honestly, a bit disappointing given how great the Anna 2010 was and the reserve is 5 times the price. …
