Kamara Estate Pure Shadow Play

Medium ruby, with a savoury, slightly porty nose showing red and dark fruit, earth and herbal notes. The palate is firm and structured, with pronounced acidity and grippy, drying tannins that dominate more than the fruit. Good body weight and concentration, but very much a food wine, finishing dry and angular rather than soft or plush.

By the glass at Bar Florine in NYC. Served chilled, definite volatility on the nose but it’s not off-putting. Balsamic, black cherries, saddle leather with lifted blackberry fruit roll up, quite grapey actually, violets and roses and more earthy volatile funk. Super grippy but pretty hollow and short. I like it but probably just a glass’s worth.
