From Vandiner’s cellar. PnP. Dark cherry cocoa charcoal liquorice herbs. Great structure acidity. Massive and elegant. In a great spot to drink up.

Spicy nose, dried fruit, dark fruit, Big tannins , very firm, leather, touch of VA, Needs time, nutty finish, bloody quite hard work. Had another bottle of this and it was much more open, or perhaps I was more open to it. Still lots of tannin but mellower with tobacco, cinnamon etc. Give it a good decant and food, don't forget the food.

Monolithic international style with a side of toasted coconut and sherry vinegar. At what decade does this monstrosity become worth the price?

Nice. Very mineralic and volcanic. Terroir driven. Not for everyone

Credence Houston. Sommelier suggestion. I thought this was a great bottle of wine. 13.5 abv. Just enough youthful fruit and oak to be a crowd pleaser. Nice acidity which paired with the food very well. This will continue to develop nicely over the next 5 to 10. 93+

Very enjoyable. I shared this with my wine group at an Italian wine night. Everyone liked it.

Ok. This is hitting its stride. Still big and has the raisiny impact but this really is nicely integrated and delicious. Love the dark fruit and richness. There is almost a chocolate and leather flavor. Just loads of layers. So wonderful in the long finish and mouth feel. So glad I have another. The question is who to share it with.

Needed 3 hrs in a decanter. Really good dark but subtle bouquet with a lot of terroir - earthy notes with a hint of fruit

200 year old pre-phylox vineyard. Huge in everyway, especially tannins and acidity. Lay it down for the next 20 years, unapproachable now - to me. I don't think I've ever had a tighter wine. Would be interested to see what its like on day three.

This is only 91-92p today as this is clearly too young and in need of further cellaring. Don’t forget: Aglianico needs to mature at least as long like Nebbiolo if not more! The fruits are still dark and brooding and like a wall and tannins drying. So I will leave my next bottle for around another 10 years, as I believe this will not peak before 2035. Aglianico, the grape that much too often does not get the time it …

A rather light aromatic expression which found me really looking for anything until my nose hurt. In mouth light and frankly watery. I get the elegance sought but this wine delivers very little to nothing. More like an 85 - or lesser wine. Giving this the benefits from a doubt because it as much young despite its 7 years of age. Give it another 3-5 years.

Part of a 2010 Aglianico tasting with my wine group. We had in order, the 2010 Guastaferro Taurasi Primum, the 2010 Feudi di San Gregorio Irpinia Serpico , the 2010 Feudi di San Gregorio Taurasi Piano di Montevergine, and the 2010 Fattoria Galardi Terra di Lavoro. All were opened, but not decanted for at least 45 minutes before pouring. I bumped this up a point from my previous bottle. The frosted bottle is a little surprising, as it hides the …

So many good things here but all on day 2! Day one was polished but tight and monolithic- nothing out of place but no verve or character. On day two the deep savoury brothy perfume blooms from the glass as soon as poured, there is minerality and graphite along the spine of the dark fruit- wonderful acidity and long finish. This is very complete as an experience- but I’d never have guessed yesterday. Reminiscent of some really good Bordeaux in …

BBQ late May 2023: deep dark red color; red berries, sour cherries and herbal aromas in the nose; silky berry flavors on the palate well balanced by a juicy acidity. Definitely a big step up in development since my last bottle early Jan 2019. Now clearly an excellent tasting experience.

Not a great wine, but not bad either; a little nondescript. Nothing bad here: color, nose, mouth all good, they just don't stand out in any noticeable way. Could this develop in time to a fabulous wine? Perhaps, I just don't have experience enough with this wine to tell. 5-12-15-8: 90/100.

Decanter Fine Wine Encounter (The Landmark, London) : Meaty, savoury, yeast extract, black plum, gamey. Medium plus intensity acidity and tannins which are silky textured and drying, fruit present, all persists long. Quite polished. Hmm.

We had opened a bottle several years ago, but found it too harsh. This was our second bottle. Had with a non-meat lasagna. It was ok, but still a bit tough. About a 1/4 bottle left. Vacuvin & into fridge until 1/29. Let it warm up to RT and drank with a NY steak. WOW! what a difference. Tannins smoothed out and the berries, spice & minerals really come through. Clearly needed the age or a substantial decant.

Decanted 3 hours. Just started to become drinkable, with iron and cherry tart profile. Smells funky. Needs a longer decant for tannins to soften. Will likely be a few points higher in a year. Quite a nice Aglianico

First night : Totally closed and ungenerous. This is so young and unwilling to show its virtues, my only hope is that time will unfurl it. After 3 hours the nose starts to develop but drinking is still no pleasure. 87 Second night: this finally shows potential but it is far away from now and still a rumour. 88

We love a good Aglianico, but it can be cloying and overdone—this one is neither! This has deep complexity through the entire process: from nose to finish the rich, dark flavors typical of Aglianico are expressed against a backbone of leather and minerality that make the drinking experience lovely from start to finish.

Very solid wine. Tannins are check, with medium acidity. Some meaty notes on the nose. Seemed a little disjointed when I first opened it, but it smoothed out and was nicely integrated after 20 minutes. Lovely
