2025-08 Vinorules Gevrey vs MSD at The Rec : Tasted blind. Mossy and cherry nose. Some VA or millipede but goes away quickly. Very silky and layered. Some cherry liqueur fruit. More and more layers with air. Ripe. 94

1st of 3 bottles. Amelie makes some of my favourite burgundy wines, from some of my favourite plots. Very much akin to her style, this Lavaut St Jacques 2017 has to be the most dense and structured wine I've had from this plot so far. And even if it tastes very well right now, I can't imagine how good it will be in 10 or 20 years time. Loads of squashed forest berries, pibe tobacco, green tea and dried rosemary …
