Solid but uninspiring. Better than "pizza zin" but not a bottle to tout. 88

Very fruit forward with loads on boysenberry and blackberry tempered with some licorice and other herb and spice like smells and tastes. The subtle complexity makes this fun to drink.

Ripe wild berry fruit, subtle licorice, and light tannins make this an approachable, well-balanced, and easily quaff-able wine. Not hot or sweet like many Zins, this one has a slightly wild character that reminds me of the hillside terraces where it is grown.

Last bottle of a case, not much fruit left compared to five years ago but still a decent drink. If you blind tasted this now you would would be hard pressed to figure out the varietal. Sweet oaky briar/pruny nose, sweet entry with strawberry overtones, the finish is still quite nice with juicy acidity making you want more.

Decanted with QD. Drank while cooking and with puttanesca. Easy drinking compared to other Zina recently

Another great wine, similar to the 2005 and 2007 we tasted that night. Compared to the 2005, the 2006 was slightly more fruit forward and a little bit less complex. We still tasted the chalk and soil, but the fruit appeared much earlier and dominated the proceedings. Awesome wine - it would be interesting to see if it becomes more like the 2005 with some more time in the bottle.

Wow, stellar complexity in this wine. My first impression was of chalk, followed by subtle fruit and overtones of coffee and smoke. There's a lot going on in this wine. Definitely more terroir than in many Zins -- the fruit takes a back seat to other flavors here. More complex than the later vintages which seemed a little more fruit-forward. Perhaps my impression of these wines is affected by having toured the vineyard, but I feel like the wines exhibit …

Nicely balanced Zin with good spice and fruit. Not too sweet. Nothing too exciting but a very solid effort.

No detailed note here. (dinner w/ M&L) Lovely aromas of deep dark red fruit, now rounded and focused. Dark red berry, almost jammy now round, deep on the full palate. It is starting to show signs of slightly past its prime I think. Still very good but a drink now for sure.

91+ (No detailed tasting notes) (Dinner for 6) Great dark color - deep and rich nose. Deep concentration of dark red fruit w/o being jammy. Elegant, focused and supple; full on palate. Good acidic balance and background integrated tannins. Good food wine. Great QPR

Losing some fruit so you are left with more oak. Drink up if you got some.

Light on the nose but great in the mouth! Light spice up front with a very smooth vanilla and berry finish. Slightly atypical zin but an incredible wine. Drinking great now.

Velvety smooth. The texture reminds of a shiraz-voigner blend. Very Fruit forward. a little alcohol that is blowing off as I write this. Black Cherries. Licorice. I'd buy this again for sure.

this zin was full and jammy with lots of dark berry fruit and spice, and also a bit of licorice. heat wasn't bothersome. 706 cases made, aged 19 months in french and american oak. 93 points connoisseur's guide to wine.

(from memory) Blue/purple in color, big primary nose of raspberry/blackberry fruits with hints of straw, palate had lots traditional briary fruit, alcoholic was kept in check, medium smooth finish with hints of vanilla, went great with the BBQ

WF John brought this bottle back from Napa for me to try - pre-release. Good solid zinfandel. Nothing incredible. Took a good 30 minutes for the alcohol to dissipate, thus allowing the fruit to show its colors. Nose of light red berries, white pepper and LICORICE. Noticable, but not intrusive tannins and finishing spice.
