Knoll Vinothekenfüllung Tasting (Freiheit Vinothek, Ulm, Germany) : Glass: Zwiesel Sensory Clear pale golden color. Beautiful intense, fresh, crisp and precise nose. Very lean, precise and fresh. The only vintage with a high, ripe and fully integrated acidity. Zesty bitter notes, some orange peel, hints of lime and a wonderful mineral core. Beautiful balance, tension and energy. Long, fruity and mineral finish. Potential for 5+ years. 94-95

On the nose, white pepper, celery, white flowers, a little lime. Nicely transferred to the palette with great weight. Plenty of malo creaminess. Fantastic length.

Opened 90 minutes prior. Pours a deep lemon. Exactly what I want to see in my glass from Grüner. The profile sits within the tart, savoury, liner camp without overstepping the mark and bordering on the tropical. There’s serious weight and depth and a slightly waxy texture. Superb.

Two years since my last bottle and as impressive as ever. Fuller than many a Grüner with a floral, apple and exotic pear core. Has the acid grip and concentration to balance the whole in perfect harmony. Excellent now but no rush. Till 2028?+.

Glass: Zalto Bordeaux Popped and poured, from perfect bottle. Clear, yellow-golden color with lots of tartaric acid. Beautiful fresh, deep and dense nose with lots of ripe yellow stone fruit, spices, some vegetables and floral notes. On the palate fresh, dense and deep. Creamy, beautiful texture, medium+ ripe acidity. Fine yellow stone fruit, mineral, spices. Wonderful balance. Very long, lingering and mineral finish. No signs of aging. In a perfect spot right now. 95

Tasted from an open bottle. Sweet but at the same time faded. Perhaps bottled was open for too long.

Mid bronze to gold Ethereal, delicate aromas of bougainvillaea, white Lilies, frangipane, peach box and honey smear. A supple, appealing entry with vibrant acidity to cut through the richness of the Smaragd styling. Pithy with white lime skin and elderflower open to ripe lime, peach and grapefruit with fresh Forelle pear, melon and yellow apples. There is a slight basil herb with lemon and a spiced pear element. It is undoubtedly complex with a glassy texture this is a wonderfully …

Light golden yellow with brassy-brown edges. Inviting aromas of white flowers, Bougainvillae and peach box. Intense entry with frangipane, lime and lemon offset with a strident, bracing acidity. An elegant wine with a silky, glassy texture., linear in palate shape with that particular Smaragd richness. The mid-palate shows more peach, yellow apple and lemon basil and the length is medium long. Fun, undemanding and fabulous for a warm summer's northern Hemisphere evening!

Intense golden-yellow in colour. On the nose herbs, saffron, honeyed stone fruit, spices, crushed stones - very complex and expressive. On the palate rich and almost creamy, lots of concentration, mineral, fresh, sweet, lots of fruit. Vibrant, intense finish - very very long. This bottle was more balanced than the one I had a couple of months ago. Excellent. Drink or keep. 93-95

Wonderful; very alive, note even thinking of declining, full, burgundian, some sweetness and fat with minerals and citrus and with a touch of riesling-impression. This goes to show, that keeping a wine like this pays off.

Visit to Weingut Knoll (Knoll Winery, Unterloiben, Wachau Valley, Austria) : This wine showed more balance than the Kreutles. Stone fruit, white pepper and apricot notes with solid acidity. Medium bodied. 90-91 points.

Visit to Weingut Knoll (Knoll Winery, Unterloiben, Wachau Valley, Austria) : The WA liked this wine giving it 90-92 points. I agree. This wine was fuller than either the Kreutles or Schutt. It was very aromatic with creamy fruit notes of green apple and tropical fruit. 91 points.
