Favia, Cabernet Sauvignon, Oakville

A great wine to pair with dry aged steaks.

Just outstanding. Allowed to slow ox for a few hours and then decanted for 2 hours. Red fruit flavors and herbs, balanced with a lingering finish. So very pleasant.

First of 2 from a recent purchase (with the second given to new CT friend Geaux after we didn’t drink it at dinner on our recent Napa trip). First wine back after said trip, short note as I try to catch up on trip tastings. Full spectrum of colored fruits led by black cherries, cassis and black currants, spice box, earthy minerality, wildflowers and graphite. Medium+ acidity and tannins still very much present, no heat. black cherries, red cherries, red currant, cedar, blue florals, baking spice, dark chocolate and crushed rock. Really nice red berry note lift on the mid-palate. Softer textured, nice plushness to it. Opens nicely over an hour or two. First time having Favia, excellent wine

In OCNJ with Kelly, we were the only red drinkers for the evening...good time to check back in on this bottle. Splash decant, drank over 2 hours Medium ruby color. Expressive nose of black cherry, red fruits, mild oak. Plush texture, plate showing red fruits, black cherry liqueur(?), dried floral notes, cocoa. Great secondary flavors, some mineral notes on mid palate. Long and layered finish...30+ seconds. While still fruit forward, the wine is more elegant than my memory last bottles …

Double decanted for an hour, deep ruby, rich black cherry, med. tannins, long finish; outstanding, drink or hold

Beautiful. Spice box, red and blue fruit with asphalt and charcoal nose. Palate was heavenly with hints of spice, raspberry, blueberries, cola, charcoal. Tannins were present somewhat chalky but fading. Long finish that put a smile on our faces. Great showing for a 2009. Most nights this would have kicked ass but tonite was buzz sawed by a 2004 Merus. A terrible first world problem for us.

At Agricola with Scott, Bill and Louie. Last minute call on this, thought it might be too young. This one got an hour+ decant before drinking - which really helps it. Really rich nose, could sit there and sniff this one for a while...red fruits, oak, spice, floral notes. Palate of ripe blackberry, cedar, chocolate. Lovely wine. Very napa, but not over top or over ripe. Great complexity. Opened up beautifully and probably would have gotten better if we could have held off longer!

Wow. A fun big wine that holds together well despite a rowdy palate. Great fruit. Expansive and varied in the palate. Nose has great fruit, spice and wood. Anise. Red fruit. Serious umami. PDQ94

Thick luscious full of berries chocolate and a slightly chalky feel in the mouth. An extremely complex wine with loads of structure that stays with you for days. You don't realize how good this wine is until days later when you have one of your regular bottles.

Plenty of fresh current and blackberry, slight chocolate, tannins tight, moderate finish and fair amount of acidity. Built to last.

Great cab fruit and intensity.

Already drinking well. Well integrated. Great finish.
