Pretty oaky nose with redeeming Syrah funk, black pepper, and wild blueberry scents. Full bodied, ripe blueberry fruit with a streak of mocha and black pepper. Not tasting as much oak as I'm sniffing, which is good. Ready to drink.

Lovely Syrah. Think dry blackberry without the sweetness. Big dry finish. Still getting better.

Interesting wine, big, somewhat grapey, some tannin, shared with friends, not my cup of tea but ok, drank with swordfish, would not drink again.

Truly think that it could be 2025 and this wine will still be alive and kicking. Big and jammy as you would expect but aging has smoothed out some of the rougher edges.

Fun bottle. Big wine with Petite Sirah playing a large role. Chocolate, toffee and graphite. Sharp acidity. Long finish marked by furry tannins.

Fairly tannic. Deep color. Very ripe. Rhone-like flavors. Probably could use a couple more years of age.

We got this bottle from Fess’ wine club in March, 2013. This blend is similar to a Chateauneuf-du-Pape and is ALWAYS good. Let’s see how the 2010 measures-up. The bouquet exhibits both red and dark fruits, a slight essence of oak, a bit of earth, and some herbal and spicy elements as well. This blend consists of 66% Syrah (one of Fess’ best/most consistently good varietals), 19% Petite Sirah, and 15% Grenache. The grapes for this blend came from three …

Ultra modern, comprised of unintegrated component parts, including sharp alcohol, jammy, stewed fruit, over-the-top timber treatment, and a bitter (cheap lumber) finish. In a word...YUCK!!!

Very nice nose with typical berry and syrah aromas. Acidity makes this better with food than alone. Paired well with garlic meatballs. Subtle soft tannins.

Started this off with no decant time, very dark in the glass with long slow moving legs. The bouquet is meat and pepper with hint of fruit, guessing air time will change how it presents itself. The taste doesn't match the smell exactly, little tannins, somewhat acidic, the fruit is more obvious. Fairly complex and with a longer finish the pepper makes it pop at the end, very enjoyable!

Dark red violet color; reduction, roasted black fruit, mocha nose; tight, ripe black fruit, ripe berry, blackberry palate; approachable now but with sweet tannins that should resolve in 2-3 years; medium-plus finish (66% Syrah, 19% Petite Sirah, 15% Grenache; 14.9% alcohol; 20 months in 40% new French and American oak)

Tasted at FP winery. Smooth drinking red with deep colors and aromas of blueberry and plum, soft tannic taste, medium finish with touch of vanilla and chocolate. Feel like it would pair nicely with a ribeye or juicy 70/30 hamburger.

The dark plum and blackberry aromas smell roasted and sweet, also aromas of tar and rich potting soil. Rich and extracted on the palate, the blackberry and blueberry fruit comes in waves. Supported by medium acid and fine tannins, this fruit-bomb also shows notes of fig paste, mocha and toasted oak. After ten minutes, a hint of black olive comes out. Hedonistic, not much subtlety here, but up there on the delicious scale. Could use a year or two. I …

Got this bottle from the winery's wine club (price unknown) in November 2010 and drank with Barefoot Contessa's meatloaf with Tyler Florence's meatloaf tomato relish (we thought Ina's meatloaf recipe was better than Tyler's but absolutely LOVE Tyler's meatloaf tomato relish). The bouquet reveals plenty of dark/black fruit, along with significant earth, oak, and spice suggestions. Sho' 'nuff, this is a dark, rich, creamy, earthy, spicy red blend (92% Syrah and 8% Grenache from the Camp Four Vineyard in San …

Dark, lush raspberry and cherry flavoured, bit of a fruit bomb, but also some pleasant acidity but persistent wood on the finish; consumed after dinner with some gorgonzola and fig jam on toasted baguette crackers and that was a very good fit.

This is a fruit bomb pain and simple, but we all knew that going in...right? It's a well made wine, very dark purple in the glass, super extracted dark fruits, smooth but present tannins. Lacks the acidity I prefer, and the initial nose will catch fire if you don't give it enough time to breathe. The oak is very present with a strong vanilla aroma. Not my style, but I know many will love it.

Made to impress the impressionnable - at 15% alcool the finish and mid-palate is hot, spiciness détecte, but not well-balanced and over-extracted.

Disappointed. This is a big, hot syrah. While the bones are there with flavors of chocolate, licorice and coffee, these elements are poorly integrated leaving me feeling more like I'm being clubbed than caressed. And it's 14.9 booze hangs over this wine like a dense fog, getting in the way of any real enjoyment. Sadly, I thing time will only marginally help this wine.

Somewhat disjointed, with ripe fruit, coffee and oak coming forward. A touch hollow in the middle, but a decent finish and decent balance makes this a good wine, just not really for the price. Might leave my other bottle for a few years to see if it comes together a bit better.

Very dark, inky purple in color, almost black and quite viscous. By appearance alone, this looks like ruby Port. It doesn't smell like Port, though, with extremely primary aromas of blackberries and vanilla. On the nose, this has just a ton of oak, and the palate confirms it. This is very extracted, with blackberry reduction and vanilla frosting. This wine is extremely sweet, and is about as remote from the terroir as it is possible to be. This is all …

Beautiful syrah. This had an intense purple color. Complex aromatics, with spice, black fruit (plum and raspberry), and tobacco. Medium bodied but elegant, with lots of rich, concentrated dark fruit flavors, has a nice long finish.
